JAMMU, Nov 21: Weather was dry in J&K during the last 24 hours as the MeT officials said on Monday that dry weather with partly cloudy sky is expected during the next 24 hours.
“Dry weather with partly cloudy sky is likely in J&K during the next 24 hours,” an official of the MeT department said.
Srinagar had 3.7, Pahalgam minus 3.5 and Gulmarg minus 3.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature today.
Drass town in Ladakh region had minus 11.5, Kargil minus 6.8 and Leh minus 9.2 as the minimum temperature.
Jammu had 8.9, Katra 9.1, Batote 4.7, Banihal 6.2 and Bhaderwah 2.6 as the minimum temperature. (Agencies)

PM Modi to address rallies in Gujarat’s Surendranagar, Jabusar and Navsari today
Ahead of the Gujarat Assembly polls scheduled for next month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday will address three back-to-back Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Vijay Sankalp Sammelan rallies in the poll-bound state.
PM Modi’s first rally on the day will be in Surendranagar at 11 am, the next will be in Jabusar at 1 pm, and then in Navsari around 3 pm.
On the other side, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to hold four public meetings in Dwarka, Somnath, Junagadh and Kutchh districts of the state.
At around 11 am, Shah will address the first meeting in the Khambhaliya Assembly constituency in Dwarka district. Then at 1 pm, in Somnath at Kodinar, he will address another rally.
The other two meetings that the Home Minister will address are at 3 and 4 pm in the Mangrol Assembly constituency in Junagadh and Bhuj Assembly constituency in Kutchh respectively.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is also a BJP’s star campaigner for the Gujarat elections, will also address a public meeting in the Mahemdavad assembly constituency.
Earlier on reaching his home state on Saturday, PM Modi held a road show in Valsad and also addressed the people.
The Prime Minister, who had four scheduled public meetings, started his campaign on Sunday from Somnath. Later he also held election rallies in Dhoraji, Amreli and Botad.
Speaking at the rally in Dhoraji, the Prime Minister took an apparent swipe at Rahul Gandhi and said that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Congress leader walked with a woman who tried everything to derail the Narmada Project.
The Voting for the 182-member State Assembly will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5. The results will be announced on December 8.
Heroin Worth Crores Recovered In Uri Baramulla: Police
SRINAGAR, Nov 21: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a man and recovered four packets of herion worth crores from him in Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said that a joint checkpoint of police and 03 Rajput unit of army was established at AD Post.
“During the routine checking, a drug peddler namely Imtiyaz Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Sahoora Uri, on seeing the naka party tried to evade arrest. He was apprehended and four packets of suspected contraband was recovered,” the spokesperson said.
“A case under NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigation set in motion,” the spokesperson said.
He said that the general people have hailed the efforts of security forces and expressed support in eradicating the menace of drugs from the society.
“People are requested to come forward with information regarding Drug Peddlers of their areas so that drug menace can be eradicated from the society,” the statement said.
Infighting within Congress cause of concern ahead of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will pass through Rajasthan in the cold days of December but political temperature within the party is high, with leaders supporting former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot demanding solutions to existing issues.
Even as infighting between the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Pilot camps continues, Gurjar leader Vijay Singh Bainsla has dared the party to organise the yatra without resolving pending issues of the community he belongs to.
At the same time, the opposition BJP is geared up to launch its ‘Jan Akrosh Movement’ from November 29 to counter the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and corner the Gehlot government at a time when it completes four years next month.

Jammu And Kashmir | 3 soldiers make supreme sacrifice in Kupwara
SRINAGAR, Nov 19: Three soldiers, part of a patrol party near the LoC in Machhal sector in J-K’s Kupwara, made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, said defence officials.
As per the officials, a routine link patrol was undertaken on the night of November 17-18 in the Machhal sector. During the patrol, Gunner Souvik Hazra complained of breathing difficulty. After an initial assessment, it was planned to evacuate him to the nearest post. During the move to the nearest post, the tail of the patrol party came under a massive snow slide. A search and rescue was immediately launched with troops from the nearest post also moved to undertake the operation.
The defence officials said that in the meanwhile, the medical condition of Gunner Souvik Hazra, who was diagnosed with hypothermia, started deteriorating. An air evacuation request was raised at about 10.30 AM and he was evacuated to 168 MH, Kupwara. The braveheart later succumbed to his medical condition at the Military Hospital.
The search party at the snow slide site located Lance Naik Mukesh Kumar. He was moved to the nearby post and further evacuated to 168 MH, Kupwara at about 2.30 PM by helicopter. The braveheart, however, succumbed to his medical condition at the Military Hospital. Naik Gaikwad Manoj Laxman Rao was however still missing.
Meanwhile, a specialised rescue team and Avalanche rescue dog from Z Gali were airlifted and immediately inducted to locate the missing individual. After an extensive search, Naik Gaikwad Manoj Laxman Rao was recovered at around 4.30 PM and was air evacuated to 168 MH, Kupwara. The braveheart also could not be revived and succumbed to his medical condition.
As per defence officials, Late Naik Gaikwad Manoj Laxman Rao was forty-one years old and joined Army in 2002. He belonged to Village Chunchkkede, Post Dhule, Tehsil, Dhule District in Maharashtra. The braveheart is survived by his wife.
Lance Naik Mukesh Kumar was twenty-two years old and joined Army in 2018. He belonged to Village Sajwantgarh, Post Rodu, Tehsil Ladnun, District Nagaur in Rajasthan. The braveheart is survived by his mother, informed officials.
Gunner Souvik Hazra was twenty-two years old and joined Army in 2019. He belonged to Village Khamarberia, Post Onda, Tehsil Bankura Sadar, District Bankura in West Bengal. The braveheart is survived by his uncle, informed officials.
The mortal remains of the three bravehearts will be taken for last rites to their respective native places, where they will be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Indian Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and remains committed to their dignity and well-being. (Agencies)

PM Modi inaugurates first greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Arunachal Pradesh’s first greenfield airport in Itanagar.
The Donyi Polo airport will boost connectivity in the Northeast. The foundation stone for this airport was laid by the PM in 2019.
The airport, which has been developed in an area of over 690 acres, at the cost of more than Rs 640 crore is expected to play a major role in improving connectivity and will also contribute to the growth of trade and tourism in the region, said Dilip Sajnani, Director, Airport Authority of India.
The airport has a 2300 m runway and is well suited for all weather day operations. The airport terminal is a modern building, which promotes energy efficiency, renewable energy and the recycling of resources.
According to an official statement, the terminal at Hollongi has been constructed approximately at a cost of Rs 955 crore with an area of 4100 sq m and has a peak handling capacity of 200 passengers per hour.
PM Modi had in a tweet yesterday said “Commerce and connectivity will gain immensely from this project.”
Arunachal chief minister Pema Khandu had termed the “The Great Hornbill Gate” at the Donyi Polo airport at Hollongi “an architectural marvel”.
The Donyi Polo airport will be the third operational airport in Arunachal Pradesh and the first in its capital city Itanagar, taking the total number of airports in the Northeast to 16.
Arunachal Pradesh currently has two airports, one at Pasighat and the other at Tezu.
Meanwhile, the launch event this morning will also witness PM Modi dedicating 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station to the nation.
The power station has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 8,450 crore and the project aims to turn Arunachal Pradesh into a power surplus state.
The project is in line with India’s commitment to move towards green energy initiatives and will also benefit the National Grid in terms of grid stability and integration.
Parents liable to pay tuition fee only; admission process to commence after annual exam: DSEK
SRINAGAR: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir Saturday said that the admission process in all schools across the valley will begin only after the culmination of annual exams.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here, Director of School Education Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain Mir, said as of now no new admissions will take place because no annual exams have been conducted so far.
He said there are guidelines from the administration that the new admission process should be started only after exams are over. He further said as far as the admission fee is concerned, only that fee shall be charged which has been fixed by the fee fixation committee.
About the winter fee, he said parents are liable to pay tuition fees only for their wards and they are not supposed to pay any other fee, be it transport fee. Mir also said the government has started providing heating arrangements in a phased manner from November 15.
