Mainly cloudy sky, light rain in Valley, light/moderate rain in Jammu likely: MeT

Jammu, Sep 5: The Meteorological (MeT) department on Monday forecast mainly cloudy sky with light rain in Kashmir Valley and light to moderate rain in Jammu division during the next 24 hours.

“Mainly cloudy sky with light rain is likely in the Valley and light to moderate rain in Jammu division during the next 24 hours”, an official of the MeT department said.

Meanwhile, Srinagar had 18.8 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam — 13.8 and Gulmarg — 10.6 degrees as the minimum temperature this morning.

Drass in Ladakh region had 11.2 degrees and Leh 12.5.

Jammu registered 20.1 degrees, Katra — 20.2, Batote — 15.5, Banihal — 16.8 and Bhaderwah 15.9.

Jammu and Kashmir witnessed an inclement weather J&K during the last 24 hours.

J-K: Mega job fair; 1,200 youth registered by private companies

September 5 : A divisional level mega job fair, first of its kind event, was inaugurated at Jammu and Kashmir’s Amar Singh College on Sunday, where a platform was provided to educated unemployed youth of Kashmir Division to come face to face with job providers.
The divisional level mega job fair was inaugurated by Commissioner Secretary Labour and Employment, Sarita Chauhan at Amar Singh College.

More than 40 companies participated in the event and around 2,000 job seekers from all 10 districts of the Kashmir division participated in the event and also interacted with company representatives.

Speaking to the media, Sarita Chauhan spoke at length about bridging the gap between the demand and supply in the job market. She impressed upon stakeholders to counsel and guide the students to take up skill-oriented courses to enhance their employability.

While addressing the industry representatives, she emphasized on the registration of private companies as job providers on the Employment portal (www.jakemp.nic.in).

She further directed the private company representatives to list out the skill requirements in their respective sectors and notify the vacancies available to them from time to time.

The Commissioner Secretary further instructed the Director Employment to strengthen and diversify the Counselling of youth and try to build a connection with the industry.

The representatives from various companies and industries also spoke at the occasion and showed enthusiasm in this step of getting connected with youth through the Department.
The Director Employment, Nisar Ahmad Wani informed the gathering that such job fairs will be replicated in all the districts of UT of J-K.

During the fair, 1,200 youth were shortlisted/registered by private companies, 15 youth were handed over offer letters on spot and 150 youth were selected for training in hotel management after which they will be recruited in the same field.

LG Sinha extends greetings on Teachers’ Day

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha greeted the teachers across Jammu and Kashmir on Teachers’ Day.

An official spokesman in a statement issued here said that in a message, the LG said, “Teacher is another name of wisdom and in our ancient tradition teachers are placed at the same platform as God. A teacher is a mind and all the knowledge of new generations and they have made an unparallel contribution in nation building. I am full of gratitude for their invaluable contribution to nurturing the power of the human mind and inculcating indomitable spirit in the students. Six dead, two injured in twin car accidents in Bhaderwah

Jammu, Sep 5: Six people were killed after two cars veered off the road and plunged into a stream in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, police said.
Two people were also injured in the two accidents that took place on Doda-Bhaderwah road within a span of six hours, Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Abdul Qayoom said.
A car plunged into Neeru stream near Galgandhar after rolling down 400 feet around 6.30 am, resulting in the death of four people and critical injuries to another, he said.
The deceased have been identified as Satya Devi, Satisha Devi, Vikram Singh and Lakh Raj, all residents of Shiva village, who were on their way to Bhaderwah as part of a marriage procession, he said.
Earlier, another private car fell into the stream from 300 feet at Mughal Market, two km away from the second accident site.
The accident occurred around 12.30 am and the bodies of Sajad Ahmad of Tangorna-Bhaderwah and Ravinder Kumar of Himote-Bhaderwah, were retrieved from the vehicle, the SSP who supervised both the operations said.
Piyush Kumar of Chinta was rescued in a critical condition, he added.

Jammu-Srinagar highway blocked at Ramban

JAMMU, Sep 5: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been closed for vehicular traffic due to shooting stones in Ramban district, police said on Monday.
“Jammu-Srinagar national highway (NH-44) blocked at Cafeteria Morh, Mehad, in Ramban district due to continuous shooting stones,” the police added.
The highway is the main road which connects the Union Territory with the rest of the country. All essential supplies and vehicles pass through the highway.
Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms or lightning very likely over Jammu and Kashmir today. (Agencies)

Active Covid cases in India decline to 53,974

New Delhi, Sep 5: With 5,910 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,44,62,445, while the active cases declined to 53,974, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.
The death toll climbed to 5,28,007 with 16 fatalities, including seven deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The active cases comprise 0.12 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.69 per cent, the health ministry said.
A decline of 1,140 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.60 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.15 per cent, according to the health ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,38,80,464, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.

According to the ministry, 213.52 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.
It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4, three crore on June 23 last year and four crore on January 25 this year. (Agencies)

ED raids Bengaluru offices of Razorpay, Paytm, Cashfree in Chinese loan apps case

NEW DELHI, Sept 3: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) continued its raids for the second day on Saturday at six premises in Karnataka in connection with an ongoing probe against “illegal” instant smartphone-based loans “controlled” by Chinese persons.
The raids were launched on Friday under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, at Bengaluru premises of online payment gateways like Razorpay, Paytm and Cashfree, according to a statement.
The search operations were in progress at the time of filing the report.
The federal agency said the case is based on at least 18 FIRs filed by the cyber crime unit of the Bengaluru Police against “numerous entities/persons in connection with their involvement in extortion and harassment of the public who had availed small amount of loans through the mobile apps being run by those entities/persons”.
An amount of ₹17 crore has been seized in merchant IDs and bank accounts of these Chinese persons-controlled entities, the central agency said.
The modus operandi of these entities is that they use forged documents of Indians and make them dummy directors leading to generation of “proceeds of crime”, the ED said.
“It has come to notice that the said entities were doing their suspected/illegal business through various merchant IDs/accounts held with payment gateways/banks.”
“The premises of Razorpay Pvt Ltd, Cashfree Payments, Paytm Payment Services Ltd and entities controlled/operated by Chinese persons are covered in the search operation,” the ED said.
The entities under investigation were generating proceeds of crime through various merchant IDs/accounts held with payment gateways/banks and they are also not operating from the addresses given on the MCA (ministry of corporate affairs) website/registered address and they have “fake” addresses, the agency said. Activist Guftar Ahmed Chowdhary calls on LG Sinha

Jammu, 3 September, 2022: Prominent political activist from Rajouri Advocate Guftar Ahmed Chowdhary called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan Jammu.

In a meeting he submitted detailed memorandum of demands for KOTRANKA BUDHAL KHAWAS area in particular and PeerPanjal in general.

ADV Guftar requested LG for starting work of Govt Degree College Kotranka. Apart from this, tehsil status for Budhal, SDPO office at Kotranka along with police station Khawas and Peeri were projected in memorandum.

He also requested for establishing 400kv grid station at Rajouri and 132Kb grid station at Kotranka.

He further requested LG for improving road conditions in rural areas of Budhal constituency including Peeri Road, Khawas Road, Kanchi Morh to Gai bass Narla road etc along with BGSB university Rajouri which is in worst condition.

He also requested LG for establishing SBI bank branch at Kotranka, JK bank branch at Mandar Gala, Kha Jamola and Gai Bass of Narla. Outdoor stadium at Kotranka and Budhal was also mentioned in memorandum. He also requested for making PHC’s functional in far flung areas.

ADV Guftar requested LG for the regularization of daily wagers and need base workers of J-K. He urged for starting recruitment process in electrical engineering wing as thousands of students are suffering. He also requested for exemplary punishment against the scammers who destroyed precious time of hard working students.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha gave a patience hearing to the demands projected by Adv Guftar Ahmed and assured him that the genuine issues put forth by him would be looked for early redressal.

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 03: Our strong Socio-Economic growth is succeeding in bringing of a qualitative change in sports sector and enabling our sportspersons to demonstrate their excellence, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha said earlier today.
“The two biggest challenges for us were piecemeal approach towards sports activities prior to 2019 and subsequent disruption caused by the Covid pandemic.
Today, J&K UT has regained the confidence and we are creating an equitable and inclusive sports and recreation culture with modern infrastructure and training which is comparable to the best in the country,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Highlighting the sporting events organized under ‘My Youth My Pride’ in 22 disciplines in Kashmir Division and 18 disciplines in Jammu Division, the Lt Governor said, the programme is turning out to be a solid forum for sportspersons to bring glory to themselves as well as the community.
“My Youth My Pride is dedicated to advancing sports by empowering young men and women. It has inculcated a winner’s instinct among youth and kindled hopes of an ascent in sporting performance in national and international games. J&K Sports Council has successfully completed many key infrastructure projects which are playing an essential role in training the youth in different sports. Our sportspersons are setting an example by continued pursuit of excellence in various disciplines, high levels of sporting ethics in games and the larger vision of making J&K UT a land of champions,” the Lt Governor added.
Lauding the efforts of Sports Associations and Sports Council for regular engagement of athletes and reviving the culture of night football matches in various districts, the Lt Governor said that we are proud of the fact that thousands of athletes, coaches and sports officials around the UT are making valuable contributions and ensuring path-breaking achievements.

The Lt Governor said with the focus on talent search & training and creation of Sports Academies for achieving excellence, Sports Council is attracting the best and brightest talents. He said with the help of veteran sportspersons, schools and coaches, the Sports Council is working to ensure young generation get to play a variety of sports and everyone has the opportunity to develop strong skill-set.

It is pertinent to mention that during Phase-I of the ‘My Youth My Pride’ more than 8.5 Lakh youth from across the UT had participated, while 13.74 Lakh youth to be engaged in Phase-II.

Pakistan Terror Module Busted In J&K’s Kishtwar, Molvi Linked To Pak-based Outfit Arrested

JAMMU, Sep 3: In a big success for the security forces, the Jammu and Kashmir arrested a Molvi at Kishtwar involved in passing sensitive information related to security forces and assisting a terrorist organisation named ‘Kashmir Janbaz Force’. The terror outfit was reportedly controlled from Pakistan. According to the sources, major terror attacks on the security forces have been averted with the arrest of the Molvi.
The Molvi has been identified as Abdul Wahid. The Molvi was passing information to a Pakistani handler, Tayyab Farooqi, who tracked Wahid via social media platforms and lured him for money. The Molvi was planning to join the organisation as terrorists and was tasked to radicalise the youth of the Kashmir valley.
According to the sources, the operation was carried by the Military Intelligence and Special Investigation Agency. (Agencies)
