New Delhi : Recent developments in the investigation into Wednesday’s Parliament security breach suggest that the alleged mastermind is still at large, prompting intensified efforts for apprehension, according to police sources on Thursday.
Citing information from Delhi police sources, news agency ANI reported that the accused conducted surveillance outside the parliament building before the breach occurred. All the accused reportedly had ties to a social media page named ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Club.’ Intriguingly, the historical reference notes that Bhagat Singh, along with his associate Batukeshwar Dutt, had thrown bombs in the British Parliament from the visitor’s gallery.
Sources revealed that the individuals involved convened in Mysore about a year and a half ago, with one member, Sagar, attempting to enter the Parliament House in July but failing. On December 10, the group assembled in Delhi after traveling from their respective states, congregating near India Gate, where colored crackers were distributed among them.
Simultaneously, the Delhi Police Special Cell has registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has initiated an inquiry into the security breach incident, forming a committee led by CRPF DG Anish Dayal Singh. The committee aims to investigate the breach’s circumstances and recommend measures to enhance parliamentary security.
Responding to a Lok Sabha Secretariat request, the MHA issued an order for an inquiry into the Parliament security breach incident. The Enquiry Committee, led by DG CRPF Anish Dayal Singh, comprises members from various security agencies and experts.
The security breach, which occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the Parliament terror attack, witnessed two intruders entering the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitor gallery during Zero Hour. The individuals descended into the well of the House, deploying smoke canisters and shouting slogans before being subdued by MPs and marshals.
Up to this point, five individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, including the two intruders and two protesters outside the Parliament. A fifth person was reportedly apprehended in Gurgaon, with authorities actively searching for another associate.
