Mahua Moitra Slams PM Modi Over Manipur Violence During No-Confidence Motion Debate

In a charged atmosphere during the no-confidence motion debate, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra directed pointed remarks at the government concerning the ethnic violence in Manipur. Moitra framed the no-confidence motion as an attempt to shatter the silence enveloping the situation in Manipur.

Moitra’s voice resonated with frustration as she exclaimed, “We are here to ask the question in our ‘tum abhi chup raho’ republic where the PM tells a Governor ‘chup raho’ (keep quiet). We as elected MPs in this House are routinely told ‘chup raho’. This motion is to break this code of silence on Manipur.”

Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Moitra remarked, “PM Modi will not listen to us, he will come on the last day and give his speech. I do not know what is more unfortunate, our PM refuses to come to the Parliament or that he refuses to go to Manipur.”

Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman countered the criticism, praising PM Modi’s leadership and the government’s steadfast dedication to the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, aur Sabka Prayas” (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, and Efforts of all). Sitharaman defended the government’s policies, highlighting India’s remarkable economic progress as a result of concrete actions.

AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi added his perspective, taking a dig at the government during his address. He questioned the priority given to Hindutva ideology and criticized recent statements made by the Home Minister.

In the larger context, the no-confidence debate unfolded as an arena for critical discussions, where voices of dissent and evaluation of government actions took center stage. The session not only shed light on the Manipur situation but also delved into broader issues, including the government’s performance and priorities. As the debates continue to shape the discourse, they serve as a reminder of the democratic process that encourages open dialogue and accountability.
