Kupwara, September 22: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse (IAS), flagged off a group of beneficiaries today for an exposure-cum-training visit to the Government Sheep Breeding Farm in Poshnar, Rajwar Kupwara. This initiative, organized by the Department of Sheep Husbandry under the SEWA PARV program, aims to enhance skills and knowledge in sheep rearing.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of livestock for livelihood generation, particularly in rural areas. He commended the department’s commitment to empowering local breeders and assured full support for adopting modern practices in sheep rearing.
District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr. Ishrat, shared insights on the goals of the exposure program. He stated that the initiative focuses on equipping beneficiaries with practical demonstrations in scientific sheep rearing, flock management, breeding practices, and animal health care. Such training helps farmers implement improved management practices, which in turn boosts productivity and enhances animal welfare.
The program will feature technical experts from the department leading interactive sessions at the sheep breeding farm, offering participants a chance to learn modern techniques essential for sustainable growth in sheep husbandry. The visit aims to demonstrate innovative practices that farmers can replicate, leading to better economic outcomes.
This initiative is part of the Department of Sheep Husbandry’s broader mission to improve the socio-economic conditions of sheep rearers in the district.
