Srinagar, Sept 20: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat emphasized the need for justice during a high-level security review meeting in Sopore today. He firmly stated that no guilty individual should evade the law, and no innocent person should face harm.
The DGP made these remarks while advocating for balanced policing. He called for operational vigilance, highlighting the necessity for enhanced area domination, intensive naka checking, and night patrolling. These measures aim to counteract the rising incidents of terrorism in the region.
During the meeting, Prabhat urged police officials to maintain a proactive stance against militants and their networks. He stressed the importance of employing both kinetic and non-kinetic tactics while ensuring the rights and safety of law-abiding citizens.
“We must protect our people. It’s essential to keep pressure on militants without compromising the safety of our community members,” said the DGP. He encouraged officers to cultivate strong community ties, ensuring that citizens experience free movement and the swift resolution of genuine grievances.
Prabhat pointed out that police stations, as the fundamental units of law enforcement, must be robust, responsive, and focused on public service. He remarked, “Strong policing builds trust with the community, which is vital for effective law enforcement.”
During his visit, the DGP inaugurated a newly established Special Operations Group (SOG) complex in Sopore. This facility is expected to enhance law enforcement capabilities in the area.
Prabhat chaired the review meeting with senior officers, including IGP Kashmir V K Birdi and DIG North Kashmir Maqsood-ul-Zaman. SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib briefed him on the current security scenario and outlined the operational challenges facing the district.
In discussions with the SOG officials, the DGP praised their dedication and hard work. He urged all officers to exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and the fragile peace in the Union Territory.
