New Delhi : On Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed that “Operation Lotus 2.0” is underway in Delhi, asserting that the BJP is making efforts to overthrow the state government by offering bribes to AAP legislators. Education Minister Atishi Marlena stated that seven AAP MLAs have been approached by the BJP.
Atishi informed the press, “The BJP has initiated ‘Operation Lotus 2.0’ and is attempting to dismantle the democratically elected AAP government in Delhi. Seven AAP MLAs have been contacted by the BJP, with the message that Arvind Kejriwal will soon be arrested, leading to a division among AAP MLAs,” as reported by ANI.
She further accused the BJP of claiming to be in contact with 21 AAP MLAs, offering each of the seven members Rs 25 crore and a BJP ticket. Atishi highlighted that “Operation Lotus” is a tactic employed by the BJP to come to power in states where they were not democratically elected, citing examples such as Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.
Responding to the allegations, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “This implies that I am not being arrested for investigating any liquor scam, but they are conspiring to overthrow the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi.” Kejriwal expressed confidence, stating, “All our MLAs are also strongly united. This time also these people will fail in their nefarious intentions.” He added, “It is not within their power to defeat AAP in the elections, so they want to topple the government by arresting them on the pretext of a fake liquor scam.”
