In the lead-up to the grand consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, a fraudulent scheme is reportedly duping individuals under the pretext of collecting donations for the temple’s construction. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has taken the matter to the Uttar Pradesh police and issued a warning on social media, urging people to be wary of the scam.
The VHP’s National Spokesperson, Vinod Bansal, posted on social media, “Alert..!! Some individuals are attempting fraud by creating fake IDs in the name of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra to deceive people. @HMOIndia @CPDelhi @dgpup @Uppolice should take prompt action against such individuals.” He emphasized that the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Nyas has not authorized anyone to collect funds for this occasion and has lodged a formal complaint with the authorities.
In a video message, Bansal revealed that the VHP had received information about a racket exploiting devotees through a fake ID, generating a fake QR code for collecting money on social media. He urged strict action against such individuals, emphasizing that the temple trust has not granted anyone the right to collect funds.
According to the VHP, a miscreant named Abhishek Kumar sought funds for Ayodhya Temple Development on social media, posting UPI QR codes in Facebook groups. On scanning the QR code, users are directed to the UPI ID ‘9040914736@Paytm’ with the name Manisha Nallabelly. The VHP member Girish Bhardwaj wrote to the Uttar Pradesh DGP and IG, highlighting the misuse of social media for illegal fundraising and stressing that the Shri Ram Janmbhumi Teerth Kshetra Trust has not authorized any private individuals to collect funds for the temple.
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust holds the responsibility for the construction and management of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The VHP has called for immediate action against these fraudulent activities, especially during the joyous period leading up to the Ram Temple inauguration.
