Congress Manifesto Pledges Increase in Medical Health Insurance Cover to Rs. 50 Lakh and Creation of 10 Lakh New Jobs

New Delhi : Just two days before the conclusion of election campaigning on November 23, the Congress unveiled its Jan Ghoshna Patra-II (manifesto), committing to increase the medical health insurance, known as “Cheeranjivi,” from Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh. The manifesto also pledges to create 10 lakh new jobs for youths, including 4 lakh government jobs, if the party is voted into power. Additionally, the Congress promises to provide farmers with a Rs. 2 lakh interest-free bank loan.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC President Govind Singh Dotasara, Manifesto Committee Chairman Dr. CP Joshi, Sachin Pilot, and Pawan Khera were among the leaders present during the manifesto’s release at the PCC Office.

The manifesto outlines plans for a caste census in the state and the enactment of a law to purchase crops from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Other commitments include interest-free loans up to Rs. 5 lakh for village traders, the introduction of merchant credit cards similar to Kisan Credit Cards, and the continuation of guarantees like providing LPG gas cylinders at Rs. 400.

The manifesto also promises a caste-based census to guide policy-making for equal social welfare, along with seven guarantees, including the purchase of cow dung at Rs. 2 per kg, free laptops/tablets for government college students, calamity relief insurance of Rs. 15 lakh, extension of English medium schools to every student, and the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme guarantee act.

Furthermore, the Congress vows to extend education up to the 12th grade under the Right to Education (RTE) by enacting an education guarantee law. The party plans to expand the MNREGA scheme, increasing the number of working days to 150. Chief Minister Gehlot highlighted the state’s economic progress, moving from the 12th to the 3rd position in per capita income and achieving the highest GDP in a decade, with food grain production surpassing the national average.
