Bhadarwah, May 11: A 58 year-old man, walking towards his home, was killed reportedly by a speeding car on Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda-Bhadarwah national highway on Thursday afternoon. Police claimed to have identified the vehicle in hit and run case.
SP Bhadarwah Kameshwar Puri said that the police learnt about an elderly man’s body lying on in a pool of blood near Senai bridge on Bhalla-Bhadarwah stretch of Doda-Pathankot highway, 16 km from Bhadarwah town.
“During inquiry, the deceased was identified as Mir Din (58) Son of Ali Mohd, who lived in village Massri with his wife and children. He had been out for some work and was walking back to his village, when he was hit by a speeding car and had received multiple injuries due to which he died on spot,” Said Kamleshwar Puri SP Bhadarwah.
“We have checked the CCTV footage at Bhalla post 3 km from the spot and identified the vehicle in hit and run case. Multiple teams have been rushed to different locations and the culprit will be arrested soon,” Officer added.
The body was brought to SDH Bhadarwah for postmortem from where after completing legal formalities, body was handed over to family members.
“The man has received multiple head injuries resulting into his on spot death,” said BMO Bhadarwah Dr Mohd Ashraf Kuchay.
Police has registered a case at Police station Bhaderwah.
