Bali [Indonesia], Nov 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reiterated India’s long-standing position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy in Ukraine and said “‘We have to find a way to return to the path of the ceasefire” in Kyiv.
While addressing the G20 working session on Food and Energy Security, PM Modi said, “I have repeatedly said that we have to find a way to return to the path of ceasefire and diplomacy in Ukraine.
PM Modi, who arrived in Bali on Monday, said, “Over the past century, the Second World War wreaked havoc in the world. After that, the leaders of that time made a serious effort to take the path of peace. Now it’s our turn. The onus of creating a new world order for the post-Covid period lies on our shoulders. The need of the hour is to show concrete and collective resolve to ensure peace, harmony and security in the world.”
Referring to India as the “holy land of Buddha and Gandhi” PM Modi said that he is confident that the next year when G20 meets they will all agree to convey a strong message of peace to the world.
PM Modi started his speech by congratulating Indonesia for giving effective leadership to the G-20 in a challenging global environment. He further said that Climate change, the Covid pandemic, the developments in Ukraine, and the global problems associated with it have created havoc in the world.
“Global supply chains are in ruins. There is a crisis of essentials and essential goods all over the world. The challenge for the poor citizens of every country is more severe. Everyday life was already a struggle for them. They do not have the financial capacity to deal with the double whammy. Due to the double whammy, they lack the financial capacity to handle it. We should also not hesitate to acknowledge that multilateral institutions such as the UN have been unsuccessful on these issues. And we have all failed to make suitable reforms to them. Therefore, today the world has greater expectations from the G-20, and the relevance of our group has become more significant,” PM Modi added.
Talking about the problems during the pandemic situation, PM said that India had ensured the food security of its 1.3 billion citizens. At the same time, food grains were also supplied to many countries in need. The current shortage of fertilizers in terms of food security is also a huge crisis.
He further said that the fertilizer shortage “is tomorrow’s food crisis,” and the world will not have a solution.
PM Modi said that all the G20 countries have to build mutual agreement to maintain the supply chain of both manure and food grains stable and assured.
“In India, for sustainable food security, we are promoting natural farming and re-popularising nutritious and traditional foodgrains like millets. Millets can also solve global malnutrition and hunger. We all must celebrate the International Year of Millets with great enthusiasm next year,” he added.
Calling India’s energy security “important” for global growth, PM Modi said that it is the world’s fastest-growing economy. He further stated that one should not promote the restrictions on the supply of energy and stability in the energy market should be ensured.
“India is committed to clean energy and environment. By 2030, half of our electricity will be generated from renewable sources. Time-bound and affordable finance and sustainable supply of technology to developing countries is essential for inclusive energy transition,” PM said.
“During India’s G-20 Presidency, we will work for global consensus on all these issues,” he added. (Agencies)

Narinder hails start of much awaited repair and renovation of RS Pura road
RS Pura: Social Activist and PDP District Jammu Media Coordinator Narinder Sharma today hailed District Administration and PWD Department for taking effective measures for the repair and renovation of RS Pura road to facilitate commuters. Welcoming the prompt response and intervention by District Administration for necessary repairs of RS Pura road which was in dilapidated condition for the last two years.
Sharma further said that due to poor work, blockage of drains and due to non maintenance by executive agency, the road developed potholes and was in dilapidated condition. The matter was taken up several times with the concerned agencies even several protests were organized but nothing was done in this regard. Now finally on the intervention of District Administration, the work for necessary maintenance and repair of the road was to be started today but due to rain, the work temporarily halted.
Sharma further appealed to the District Administration to ensure renovation of damaged stretches of the road from Satwari to RS Pura . He also said that over ten link roads originate from this road connecting a population of several villages including staff and students of over one dozen government schools, two health institutions and other government institutions, besides being of immense importance for defence purposes. He also appealed to concerned department to ensure enforcement of the road maintenance period clause by the contractors to keep the roads in good condition.
Sharma demanded government to pass strict instructions with regard to the quality of the work and contactors must be communicated that any damage on the roads for three years will be their responsibility and they will have to repair it whenever and wherever needed.“This will help us in keeping the roads in better health. For the past many years we have only been repairing patches due to lack of funds. As money has been announced and work has started, contractors will have to follow the set norms of the government,” he said.
To keep a check on the quality of the work, there is need to check the material being used for the process. He said that there should not be any scope for bad work and quality must be maintained.He at the same time asked people to inform him about any shabby work so that he intervenes within time. Sharma claimed that they had been running from pillar to post chasing the departments but to no purpose. The residents finally approached District Administration who acceded to their request and took in hand the initial black topping of the road.

Elections may never be held in J&K as long as BJP remained in power: Harsh Dev
Jammu, 14-11-2022: Former Minister and senior AAP leader Mr. Harsh Dev Singh has claimed that elections may never be held in J&K as long as BJP continued to rule at the centre. With the present bureaucracy enjoying authority without accountability, a ‘free for all’ kind of situation prevailed in the erstwhile state, said Mr. Singh. He said that the ECI was holding elections in other states without uttering a single word about J&K Elections which are being denied for the last four years since 2018 and which may never be held as long as BJP remained in power at the centre. So much so that even the post of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has been kept vacant for the last several months after the posting of Mr. Hirdesh Kumar as Deputy Election Commissioner in New Delhi. And while the date of publication of final electoral rolls was advanced from October 25 to November 25, the present deadline may also be changed and further postponed in view of the highest post of Election authority lying vacant in J&K.
Maintaining that the elections continued to be denied and postponed on one pretext or the other, Mr. Singh said that flimsy excuses were being given from time to time to deprive the people of J&K of their right to have a democratic govt and to continue the proxy rule of BJP therein. “If you can manage to hold the reins of power and run the affairs of state without elections, why at all should the ruling party take the risk of seeking peoples’ mandate? Asserted Mr. Singh adding that the people of erstwhile state and its political leadership seemed to have reconciled to the backdoor rule imposed by the saffron regime. “What an irony! The party which catapulted itself to power on the slogans of “one nation, one constitution” had itself dismantled the age old principles of democracy and denied constitutional rights to the people of J&K for the last four years with no hope of democracy getting restored in the downgraded state under BJP regime”, observed Mr. Singh.
Pointing towards the constitutional provisions and the rulings of the Supreme Court, Mr. Singh said that the top court of the country had categorically observed that fresh Assembly Elections in all states, wherein the legislatures were prematurely dissolved, needed to be conducted and completed within a period of six months. He divulged that even in its recent judgment pertaining to the state of Maharashtra, the Supreme Court re-iterated that there is statutory obligation to fill Assembly seats within six months so as to ensure that the people are not deprived of due representation. “You can’t create a constitutional void, a hiatus situation for the constituencies”, the Supreme Court has again observed adding further that it is the people who eventually suffer in the absence of an elected representative to espouse their cause. It therefore is a punishment to the people, said Mr. Singh while quoting the Judgment of the Apex Court of the country.
Mr. Singh said that delaying the elections on the pretext of non-completion of the Delimitation process is also unjustified. He revealed that when the State of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated and the state of Telangana created, no Delimitation was held and Assembly Elections were held immediately thereafter. It was then stated that no delimitation can take place in the country before first census after the year 2026 in view of constitutional Amendment effected by the then NDA govt in 2001-2002. In the case of J&K however, the very same NDA was adopting different yardsticks to delay and deny elections with a view to continue its proxy rule. He said that Delimitation Commission working at snail pace also had given rise to speculations that it was doing so at the behest of BJP. With the people having been deprived of popular rule and their right to have an elected govt of their own, the onus also lay on the ECI and Delimitation Commission to explain and justify their role as autonomous bodies.

Ex-Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association urges Govt to redress demands
JAMMU: Ex-Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association (ECPFWA) today urged the Central Government to restore the pension benefit scheme and martyr status.
Addressing a press conference, D.K Chauhan, General Secretary of the Association, has demanded restoration of the pension benefits scheme (old pension scheme under CCS pension) rules 1972 for post 2004 personnel.
“The Government had introduced the New Pension Scheme (NPS) to the civil employees joining Government service after January 2004 and BSF has also been combined with the civil employees”, he said, adding that the duty of the BSF is very tough and deserves restoration of the scheme as applicable to defence service.
He also demanded exemption of GST and functioning of Welfare And Rehabilitation Board (WARB) at district level under supervision of registered pensioners associations.
“Presently WARB is formed which is not effective since the services of the WARB are not properly beneficial for pensioners. The duties of the WARB and proposals for pensioners are required to be examined”, he added.
He also demanded martyr status. “Martyr status is not being given to CPMFs so far. All facilities should be provided to CPMFs at par with Army and equal incentives”, he added.
He said that it is the time to restore status of BSF for OROP as the BSF personnel are performing their duties for the security of nation at par with other security forces.
Others present in the press conference include Noor Mohd General Secretary Samba, Harbans Lal Sharma Vice President J&K (UT), Chamal Singh ITBP member, Hans Raj, Yash Pal and Puran Chand CPMF members.
Spike in UP dengue cases, CM Yogi takes stock
In wake of a spurt in dengue cases, the Secondary School Education Department has issued an advisory to all schools, asking them to ensure that children wear full sleeves shirts and full pants to cover hands and legs properly in a bid to prevent mosquito bite.
As per the notification issued on Saturday, the administration and schools’ management team have been instructed to follow the advisory issued by the department. The department has also instructed to avoid keeping clutter within the premises of the schools.
Notably, recently many cases of Dengue have been reported from across the state.
Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh has reported a rise in dengue cases with six adults and seven children admitted to dengue wards in a government hospital on Sunday.
“A total of 60-70 cases of fever are reported daily. Those found Dengue positive are kept in the Dengue ward. At present, there’re six adults and seven children in Dengue wards,” Dr. Shailesh Kumar Singh from Ursula government hospital told ANI.
With dengue cases rising, the Uttar Pradesh government has also cancelled the leaves of all doctors and paramedical staff.
Earlier on Sunday, several parts of Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district reported an increase in dengue cases with 9 patients currently admitted to the dengue ward in the district hospital.
The mosquito-borne disease is spreading rapidly in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. The platelet count of the patients is decreasing rapidly, and hospitals are running at full capacity.
A team of health workers have been deployed. Along with medicines, essential food items are also being provided to the patients by the hospital.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level review meeting with the state health department authorities on increasing dengue cases and issued directives to set up dedicated dengue hospitals in every district with the availability of doctors and health workers, facilities for investigations, and suitable arrangements for treatment.
CM Yogi during the meeting had expressed concern over the increased side effects of dengue and other infectious diseases that have increased in the past few weeks and instructed health officials to improve screening and surveillance.
He asked officials to take the help of ASHA workers and conduct door-to-door screening to identify people with symptoms and make arrangements for their treatment.
CM Yogi also directed officials to ensure the availability of beds, proper medical examination, and timely treatment for patients.
He also directed officials to make regular state-wide cleanliness and fogging efforts.
He asked them to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign to make people aware of the causes, symptoms, prevention, etc. of dengue.
Back in October, the Centre informed that it had decided to depute a high-level team to Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with the state authorities to institute dengue management measures in some districts.
J&K’s visually impaired youth qualifies Junior Research Fellowship exam
Kupwara, Nov 14: Hard work can change anyone’s destiny and with this hope, Mohammad Auyob Mir, a 23-year-old visually impaired has qualified JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) exam that was recently held.
Auyob who hails from Sogam Lolab tehsil of northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district was not born visually impaired. But he discovered that he is losing his vision slowly as his age advanced. By the time he entered class 12th at a government Higher Secondary school of Lolab, the same school where the country’s IAS topper Dr Shah Faisal got early education, he found himself as a 70 percent visually challenged person.
Auyob however accepted the challenge and changed his destiny by not compromising his disability. After he cracked the JRF exam, congratulatory messages poured in from all corners. His villagers term his success as “not a simple achievement, especially for him”.
Ayoub did his schooling at a local government school, where he always topped his class with a huge percentage. “My participation was not conferred to academics only, I used to take part in quiz competitions and other school activities as well”, Ayoub said.
“However, my parents never let his blindness come in the way of his education. They provided me with every assistance I needed to continue my studies like other children,” he said and believed that he will be able to change his family’s fortune.
“We have seen difficult days. But all of that will end soon,” he added.
Ayoub said that a local teacher in his vicinity turned out to be his hope, as he guided him throughout the period of his struggles. In higher school, Ayoub got massive support from his teachers to proceed toward his positive goal.
“However during the day, I am somehow able to move but as the evening comes, it becomes impossible for me to see anything,” he said.
In 2017, Ayob completed his bachelor’s in political science and later completed his master’s from Aligarh Muslim University. “Qualifying JRF is not something I have achieved alone, the professors at AMU have a major contribution to my success. The seniors also played a critical role, in my career, they guided me through the entire journey of JRF,” he added.
“Since I lost my sight, my preparation has become a bit different, I used to listen to lectures from my phone or computer. I used to read books through some specific software designed for blind people,” he added.
“Specially-abled students particularly those who are visually impaired are considered as a liability but I want to tell people that if anyone sets his target, disability can’t be a hurdle in achieving his or her goal in life,” he said.
“My family has been always my support to overcome all the challenges I faced throughout my entire journey. Whatever I am going through, I have never complained about anything, I am always thankful to God for everything I have,” Ayoub said.
He has been also creating disable friendly content to help people with visual impairment to crack entrance tests. “I was always diligent with studies and when you are such a student, there is a childish enthusiasm where you want to challenge yourself with more difficult things,” he added.
Meanwhile, the locals while hailing him said that he has proved that facilities alone do not matter. It is perseverance that counts. (Agencies)

During the celebration both the departments conducted three events.A yoga session regarding the Asans for Diabetes were conducted by department of Swasthavritta & Yoga under the guiadance of Dr Abhishek Magotra Associate Professor and Dr Sheetal Gupta Assistant Professor. A free investigation camp for the diagnosis of diabetes and a lecture for students was conducted by department of Roga Nidana under the guidance of Dr Priya Puesh Pargotra Associate professor department of Roga Nidana. From faculty members Dr Harmeet, Dr Sunakshi, Dr Swati, Dr Shrikala were present on the occasion and expressed their views.Students of 2nd ,3rd and final Prof also participated in the above said events.
