Aaftab Poonawala’s lie detector test likely to be held today

New Delhi, November 23

The polygraph test of Aaftab Poonawalla will be conducted on Wednesday at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Rohini.

Official sources said a pre-medical session to gain preliminary information which will be later used to develop diagnostic questions, as well as a scientific session was conducted on Aaftab at the FSL office on Tuesday evening.

“However, the main polygraph test which will involve a questionnaire prepared by the Delhi Police investigators will most likely be taken up on Wednesday.”

Sources said a polygraph and a marco test is imperative in the Shraddha Walkar murder case as Aaftab, during the interrogation, has been deceptive and tried to mislead the interrogators.

The police feel that Aaftab committed the murder with foolproof planning and not in a fit of rage.

A polygraph test, commonly known as a lie detector test, is a procedure in which physiological indicators of a person such as blood pressure, pulse and respiration are recorded while he is answering a series of questions.

On Tuesday, the officials from FSL, as per protocol, also went to the court to verify the order of the copy for the polygraph test.Sources further told IANS that police teams would try to conduct both the tests (polygraph and narco) within four days. IANS

J&K to prove waterloo for Congress’s ‘Todo Yatra’: Rana

0

JAMMU: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana lambasted the Congress for weakening the integral character of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country from time to time, saying those undermining the crucial significance of repealing Article 370 and defaming India across the world over this sensitive issue have no right to even talk about binding the nation.

“Congress has always divided the nation on religion and caste lines but they can’t anymore jump the redline to destabilize the nation by traversing to J&K under the umbrella of elements inimical to single entity of India, who have lend their support to the so-called Yatra”, Mr Rana said while interacting with various deputations who met him here today, adding that Jammu is going to prove waterloo for Rahul Gandhi and his bandwagon.

He questioned the moral plank of the yatra, asking how it can bind the nation when the beginning marked bonhomie with the most controversial and divisive priest in Kanyakumari. With the progression in the yatra, Congress attracted all those who have been belittling national pride and traditional unity. The climax of the yatra would be the blessings of the combined gang of India bashers whose sympathies remain with trans-border inimical countries, he added.

Devender Rana said Jammu is a land of warriors, who have offered numerous sacrifices for the integrity and sovereignty of the country and it cannot welcome those hell bent on breaking the ethos of the country. He described the yatra as a misadventure and desperate attempt of the grand old party to attain some sort of relevance in Indian politics.

The deputationists apprised him of various issues of immense public importance and responding to these Mr Rana expressed satisfaction over the robust grievance redressal mechanism put in place by the Jammu and Kashmir administration, saying this has instilled a sense of confidence among the people to have their issues sorted out.

“The role of public representatives becomes crucial in highlighting the issues of community importance projected at appropriate levels to have these redressed earnestly”, Mr Rana said.

A deputation of the Village Development Committee, Jandrah, Dhan and Nagola (Block Dansal) also met Mr Rana and submitted a memorandum, raising the issue regarding the building complex for the newly constructed Degree College for Jandrah.

According to the memorandum, the building developed cracks before being handed over to the higher education department for starting the classes. Being a serious issue, concerning the lives of young students, the Higher Education Department and the Disaster Management Agency had decided to wait for two rainy seasons to see whether the condition of the building further deteriorates or not. This entailed taking up the class work in rented accommodation. A panel was also constituted to monitor the status of the complex and take a view accordingly.

The committee members urged Mr Rana to take up the issue with the Lieutenant Governor and all the concerned so that class work is resumed in the newly constructed complex after the requisite safety audit. They also expressed gratitude to him for taking a personal interest in getting the problems of the constituency solved. Devender Rana assured that this important issue, as also other issues related to health, power, drinking water and various utility services will be taken up with all the concerned for earnest and appropriate redressal.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended twelve rebels in disciplinary action, who had filed their nominations as independent candidates after being denied tickets by the ruling party in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections. All of the twelve rebels were seeking tickets in the Assembly election.

This is the second list of rebels who have been suspended after the party suspended seven rebels on Sunday.

“These MLAs have been suspended for six years for having indulged in antiparty activities,” a BJP communication reveals quoting state president C.R Paatil.

Of those BJP leaders who have been suspended include Dinubhai Patel from Padra, Madhubhai Shrivastav from Vaghodia and Kuldeep Sinh Raul, all three from the Vadodara district.
B Pagi from Shahera in Panchmahal district, Dhawal Sinh Jhala from Aravalli district and Ram Sinh Thakor from Mehsana have also been suspended.

Two each have been suspended from Anand, Banaskantha and Mahisagar districts. Manavjibhai Desai and L Thakor are from Banaskantha, SM Baant and JP Patel are from Mahisagar and Ramesh Jhala and Amarshi Bhai Jhala have also been suspended from Anand district.

The BJP, seeking its seventh term in office in Gujarat, has denied tickets to 42 sitting MLAs.

The party which announced its big first chunk of 160 candidates Saw 38 sitting MLAs being dropped. Later, the ruling party also announced three more lists of candidates for the remaining Assembly seats.

Several party bigwigs, including former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, former deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and party chief Patil had expressed the desire not to contest the upcoming elections.

In the 2017 Gujarat polls, the BJP was halted at 99 seats out of a total of 182 seats. The party has been in power for the last 27 years with Narendra Modi being the longest-serving chief minister of the state.

This time, the party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CR Paatil is aiming at getting its highest seat tally exceeding 140.

The state has been a BJP stronghold for a long and the party has set its sights on returning to power for the seventh term. PM Modi has been Gujarat’s longest-serving chief minister from 2001 till 2014.

However, it faces a stiff electoral challenge from the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has named Isudan Gadhvi as its chief ministerial candidate.

Congress also hopes to put its best electoral foot forward to unseat the BJP government.

The state of Gujarat which has 182 assembly constituencies will go for polling in two phases on December 1 and 5. The counting of votes will occur on December 8, which coincides with Himachal Pradesh’s result date.
