Jammu: J&K Board of School Education on Tuesday extended the date for the submission of online Forms for classes 10, 11 and 12 Annual (Regular) examinations 2023, and renewal registration returns of classes 11 and 12.
For submission of exam forms for said classes without last fee was extended to 17 December, 2022, and for submission of exam forms with late fee and additional fee for 1st count of 10 days was extended to 27 December, 2023.
JAMMU, Dec 6: The Jammu and Kashmir administration will strengthen the cyber crime cell and set up a helpline to record and address citizens’ grievances related to cyber frauds and pornography.
Under the recently launched Cyber Security Policy, the administration is also taking various steps such as modifying the curriculum for high schools to include aspects of cyber security relevant to children. ”The UT of Jammu and Kashmir will augment the existing specialised cyber crime cell (of home department) for investigating complaints pertaining to offences under the Information Technology Act.
”The Government shall further strengthen this unit to simplify and galvanize reporting, tackling and tracking progress on cyber-crimes. The UT will strive to create a cyber space free of pornography (especially child pornography), cyber bullying and sexual harassment. The cyber grievance system will be put in place to lay special emphasis on these crimes,” reads the policy document. It said J&K would collaborate to establish a digital forensics lab to analyze and investigate cyber crimes to assist in the recovery and preservation of digital evidence.
”A data recovery lab will be established to recover corrupted and deleted data that are not available for intended use as a result of cyber-crime. In line with capacity building efforts, there will be a provision for developing data experts who can handle forensic and related requirements,” it said.
According to the policy, a digital evidence preservation facility would also be created to have a secure environment for retention of digital evidence. It said J&K would establish a cyber security helpline/grievances system to record and address citizens’ grievances related to cyber theft, cyber frauds, pornography, especially (child pornography) cyber bullying.
The helpline would also advise various entities to counter cyber threats in their respective organizations with respect to computer infra, networks and application. Having identified that cyber security is an important aspect of digital education, the document said Jammu and Kashmir will modify curriculum for high schools to include aspects of cyber security relevant to children.
The government would also perform a comprehensive revamping of the curriculum in place for master degree in the cyber security domain.
”Specialised degree and diploma programs catering to various aspects such as auditing, forensics, data management will be launched. In addition, the UT shall enter into partnerships with leading institutions around the country by identifying win-win situations for furthering its interests in cyber security,” it said.
The document said special scholarships would be set up for students pursuing advanced academic degrees in cyber security fields. ”The Government will also launch a program that will be accessible to all children to deal with issues such as cyberbullying, cyber etiquette, identity theft, privacy and building cyber security hygiene,” the document said.
As more and more human interaction is being shifted online, it said the importance of good and acceptable online behavior shall be outlined and communicated. ”Government will collaborate with other government and private organizations with the overall objective to build Cyber Security Hygiene.” It said emphasis would be on developing online content for all age groups of students and also focus will be on women, children and senior citizens. NEW DELHI, Dec 6: World Bank on Tuesday revised upwards its GDP growth forecast for India to 6.9 per cent for 2022-23 from 6.5 per cent earlier.
World Bank’s India Development Update said India is affected by spillovers from the US, Euro area and China.
It however saw the government meeting the fiscal deficit target of 6.4 per cent of the GDP in 2022-23.

A top police officer said that an IED was recovered by joint team of police and army in Shirmal area.

SRINAGAR: Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has urged all industrial and commercial unit holders to install meters that can read both KVAH and KWH units.
In a statement, KPDCL said, “As per the new tariff policy issued by JERC FY22-23, all LT Industries (below and above agreement load of 50KW) and Commercial 3 -phase Installation has been mandated to be billed on KVAH instead of KWH”.
“Therefore, KPDCL as a corporation requests all the Industrial and Commercial Unit Holders to kindly install meters that can read both KVAH and KWH units. Those installations that have meters installed reading KVAH, as well as KWH, need not change their respective meters”, it reads.

New Delhi, Dec 6: The Union Home Ministry is going to hold a high-level meeting to review security situation in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
The high-level security review meeting will take place this noon at the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi.
According to official sources, the high-level security meeting will be held in a hybrid mode.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla will chair the meeting, and discuss internal security as well as the current security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, sources said. (Agencies)
United Nations, Dec 6: Terrorism remains a global challenge and only a unified and zero-tolerance approach to this can defeat it, India’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj said.
While addressing the meeting over Iraq, Kamboj said, “Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remains a global challenge and only a unified and zero-tolerance approach to terrorism can eventually defeat it.”
“As the government of the people of Iraq continue their fight against Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL). It is also critical to fighting the impunity of terror globally,” she added.
Indian envoy to the UN also talked about the 26/11 attack and said that India believes that the credibility of the collective “fight against terrorism can be strengthened only when we can ensure accountability for the grave and inhuman acts of terror committed by terrorists and take strong measure against those who encourage support and finance terrorism.”
Earlier, on Monday, Providing justice for the communities impacted by the ISIL terror network in Iraq remains the key focus of the UN investigative team there, Special Adviser Christian Ritscher said that the evidence collected and analysed, substantiated preliminary findings from his previous report, UN news reported.
He cited crimes committed against Christians such as enslavement and forced conversion; “notable progress” on the development and use of chemical and biological weapons; and inspections on the destruction of internationally protected cultural heritage sites.
“At this pivotal stage of our mandate, please allow me to state that my team has now reached the next level on the path of holding ISIL perpetrators accountable for the core international crimes they committed”, he said.
He highlighted the excavation of several ISIL-related mass graves in Iraq and detailed that UNITAD has agreed with Germany to collect data and DNA reference samples from the Yazidi community residing there for a campaign to identify human remains in Iraq, “allowing survivors to eventually mourn their beloved ones”.
“As part of this programme, psychosocial support training is provided to Iraqi authorities to ensure international best practice is maintained when dealing with victims and survivors”, UN news quoted Ritscher as saying.
So far, his team had converted 5.5 million physical pages of documentary evidence of ISIL-related crimes into digital formats and is currently supporting digitization at six different Iraqi sites. (Agencies)

Farooq Abdullah, who had recently announced that he would step down as the National Conference (NC) president, was on Monday re-elected unopposed as the party chief. He said boycotting the panchayat polls in 2018 was a huge mistake. The poll was held at the party head office in Srinagar.
Abdullah also warned the government and the security forces not to interfere in any election process. He threatened to launch a protest if such things crop up. “I want to tell the party that boycotting the panchayat elections (in 2018) was a huge mistake. Remember this, we will not boycott any upcoming election. Instead (we will) contest and win them,” He said while addressing a party session.
On November 18, Farooq had said he would quit in December to hand over the mantle to the younger generation, a move termed by his party a “sudden announcement”. Farooq said he wanted to step aside but was persuaded to continue as “the current phase was a difficult one”.
Referring to his son Omar Abdullah’s announcement that he would not contest elections as long as J&K remained a UT, Farooq said Omar should contest elections. “If we have to fight them, we all have to contest elections,” he added.
The 83-year-old succeeded his father Sheikh Abdullah as NC president in 1981. He has been holding the current position since 2009. He has served as the CM of the erstwhile state of J&K thrice — 1982-84, 1986-90 and 1996-2002.
NEW DELHI, Dec 6: India logged 165 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases further declined to 4,345, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.
The total tally of Covid cases stands at 4.46 crore (4,46,73,783).
The death toll has climbed to 5,30,633 with two reconciled by Kerala and one death reported from Delhi in the last 24 hours, the data updated at 8 a.m. stated.
The active cases comprise 0.01% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.80% according to the ministry website.
A decrease of 89 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,38,805, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19%. According to the Ministry’s website, 219.94 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive. India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year. It crossed the four-crore mark on January 25 this year. (Agencies)
