Students of III-IV year of School of Civil Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University,
Katra showcased their models making talent through an exhibition as part of the curriculum,
called ‘Transportation Engineering (Highways, Railways and Airways)’ and ‘High-Speed
Railway Engineering’. The aim of this exhibition was to make students familiar, understand
and enjoy learning subjects easily as they put effort and make models with their own hands.
The students gave presentations during the exhibitions, and became familiar with public
speaking and developed self-confidence. The exhibition was conducted under the guidance
of Dr.V.K. Dogra (Head, SoCE) and there were a total of eighty-four students with thirty
model works and coordinated by Mr. Ponnurangam P (Assistant Professor, SoCE). The Head,
SoCE also distributed the participation certificate to all students. The model exhibition was a
roaring success and allowed students to learn beyond the boundaries of books.

Azad should be stripped of Padma award for ‘compromising national security’: JKPCC
Srinagar, Dec 19 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Vikar Rasool Wani on Monday said former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad should be stripped of his Padma award for “compromising national security.” Former Congress leader and Democratic Azad Party chief Azad had recently said that when he was the J-K chief minister, he had informed then Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about the links of some leaders with terrorists.
“If there were people in his cabinet who were involved in militancy, his MLAs were involved, why did he not take action against them? It means he (Azad) compromised the national security and such a person does not deserve an (Padma) award,” Wani told reporters after a party convention in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.
Wani said the Azad should be stripped off his award and action should be taken against him.
“I demand that President of India should recall his award and initiate action against him,” Wani, who was minister of state in the government headed by Omar Abdullah, added.
Addressing the party workers, the PCC president without naming Azad said the former chief minister was the “biggest traitor” if he did not take action against his ministers involved in militancy.
Mughal Road reopens for traffic after shut for 12 hours
Jammu: Mughal Road, connecting twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri with Shopian, reopened after remaining closed for 12 hours due to stone-slide at Shakargah.
Official sources said that that the historic throughfare reopened for traffic a shortwhile ago. DySP Traffic Rajouri Poonch Range, Aftab Bukhari confirmed it to local news agency GNS.
Meanwhile Authorities said that traffic was plying on Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with outside world. SSG Road was through for the traffic, they added.

Jammu 19 Dec :- J&K first ever Devfest 2022 was organised by Google Developer Group, Jammu, J&K in
collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institution (JKEDI), Jammu. Amit
Sharma, IAS, Secretary Department of Mining, Government of Jammu and Kashmir was the Chief guest
of this event and addressed the Devfest 2022. Sharma said GDG Jammu will play host to some of the
sharpest minds in the technology space today which will provide access and skills to Jammu tech and
student community.
The event provides local developers and students an opportunity to discuss
emerging tools and technologies.

People being killed in J&K, by terrorists, or by SFs: Cong demands debate in LS
JAMMU: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday demanded a debate on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the Lok Sabha, saying innocent citizens were losing their lives in the valley, either at the hands of terrorists, or due to security forces’ mistakes.
Raising the matter as the House took up “issues of urgent public importance”, Chowdhury said, “Innocent civilians are losing lives in Jammu and Kashmir, and it is not stopping.”
“At times by the terrorists’ bullet, and at times due to the mistakes of the forces, innocent people are losing their lives.
“They had said in the House that after abrogation of Article 370, we will capture PoK, and Aksai Chin. But today, Pandits are being forced out of the valley, lists are being made by terrorists to eliminate Pandits,” Chowdhury said.
“We want a detailed discussion in Lok Sabha on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir,” the Congress leader said.
Bharat Jodo Yatra resumes from Dausa; Kharge, Rahul to address rally in Alwar
Dausa: The Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed from here on Monday with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and senior leader Sachin Pilot walking alongside the former Congress chief.
Gandhi and the Congress leaders and workers began their march from Bandikui in Dausa. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Gandhi will address a rally in Alwar this afternoon. The yatra will not have an evening session on Monday.
The yatra, which was launched on September 7 in Kanyakumari has traversed Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and now, Rajasthan. It completed 100 days on Friday last.
The yatra will enter Delhi on December 24, and after a break of about eight days, move on to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and finally, Jammu and Kashmir.Besides participation from tinsel town celebrities, writers, military veterans, including former Navy chief admiral L Ramdas, Opposition leaders such as Shiv Sena’s Aaditya Thackeray and the NCP’s Supriya Sule, and former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, have also joined the march at various points. Militant associate arrested with arms, ammunition in Baramulla
Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it along with Army arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant associate in Baramulla district.
In a handout issued, the police said that based on a specific input, an operation was carried out on 18.12.22 by joint parties of police and 32 RR, leading to arrest of one militant associate viz. Mohd. Ishaq Lone, S/o Bashir Ahmed Lone, R/o Village Nadihal, PS Panzalla, PD Sopore from village Chakloo Baramulla.
On his disclosure, the following recoveries were made from near Chakloo Ziyarat, Village Chakloo.
The police spokesman further stated that from his possession one Canister IED, 1 pistol, 1 pistol magazine, 18 rounds of pistol and 8 meters of Electric Wire.
The timely arrest with arms, ammunitions and explosive material has averted major militant attacks like targeted killings in Baramulla/ adjoining areas, targeted attacks on convoy vehicles of SFs and has saved the precious lives of innocent civilians, reads the statement.
AAP Leader Gurmeet Singh Baaghi urged Government to restore the old pension scheme
Aam Aadmi Party leader & Social activist Gurmeet Singh Baaghi urged the Central Government to restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The National Pension System (NPS) is a disaster for retiring employees in their old age. The new pension scheme to be a form of contributory pension, the classic example of privatising everything. The employees are suffering a lot due to non-implementation of the old pension scheme. NPS is totally against the employees and is injustice with employees as well as their dependents. NPS does not guarantee minimum pension to the employees. The family members/ dependents of the Government employees do not get any financial benefit/pension under the new pension scheme and hence the old pension scheme should be restored so that all the retired employees & those on the verge of retirement or their family members can get pension/financial benefit to spend rest of their life in a dignified way. Pertinently as per the new pension scheme, 10 percent contribution each from the employee and the employer is accumulated in the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority under the Central Record Agency who after the superannuation of NPS employee will pay only 60 percent of the accumulated fund that too after deduction of GST and the remaining 40 percent will be invested in the share market through private companies which itself is a self explanatory policy of the govt. The profit obtained from the share market will be given in the form of a pension to the employee. The future of all NPS & their families will fluctuate with the market and brings a pendulum-like situation with many uncertainties. But in the old pension scheme 50 percent of the last pay drawn by a retired employee is calculated as a guaranteed retirement pension/salary with the addition of DA as and when declared by the government from time to time. After the demise of the retired employee, the nominee gets 50 percent of the total amount drawn by the retired employee as a family pension or social security. It is crystal clear from these facts that there is a guaranteed benefit for the employee and their nominee under the old pension scheme whereas there is nothing good for the employees in the new pension scheme.
Baaghi said that the ruling Government at the Centre has attained expertise in making big claims but on ground its performance is dismal with people suffering on all counts as farmers, healthcare, education, employment, tourism, businesses are all passing through an abysmal phase.Unemployment is at peak in J&K as well as in country. The people of the Country as well as J&K are fed-up of series of lies and false promises made by the BJP leadership. This is the time to root out the BJP from the government and install good governance in the country like Aam Aadmi Party government under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal provided all basic amenities to the people of Delhi & Punjab.
Baaghi again appealed to Central Government to restore the old pension scheme so that sense of belongingness could prevail among the employees.
Winning 5 seats in Gujarat was “like milking an ox”: Arvind Kejriwal
Taking note of the 14 per cent vote share of AAP in the recently concluded Gujarat polls, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that winning 5 seats was as difficult as “milking an ox”.
His statements came while chairing the National Council meeting of Aam Adami Party (AAP) at Calista Resort in Kapashera on Sunday. “In one year we got Punjab, won the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), 2 MLAs in Goa and 5 MLAs with 14 per cent vote share in Gujarat. In reference to the Gujarat success, one person told me that I milked an ox. Everyone can milk a cow but we milked an ox,” quipped Kejriwal.
Exuding confidence, he further added, “Our government will be formed in Gujarat in 2027.”
The Aam Aadmi Party National Council and National Executive met on Sunday for the first time after AAP attained its national status. In National Council, party leaders discussed various political issues and passed resolutions. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also asked the people to boycott Chinese goods.
Slamming the Modi government, he said, the government does not care about the lives of soldiers. Indian soldiers prevented Chinese troops from entering the Indian territory last week during a border face-off that led to injuries on both sides, the government said earlier this week.
The recent skirmish was the first since deadly clashes in June 2020 when Indian and Chinese troops were involved in hand-to-hand combat in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh, in which 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives.
In the present discourse of events, Kejriwal alleged, “Who are buying the goods of China? What is the compulsion of BJP to buy goods from China? Can’t we increase our indigenous production? We buy the same stuff from China which could be produced in our country.”
Adding further he said, “The government is driving away the people of India and hugging the people of China. Traders and industrialists are leaving India.”
At the event, Kejriwal also categorically pointed out the difference between AAP and other parties. “One party is enmeshed in corruption, whereas the other party promotes hooliganism and provides shelter to the goons. People can see that AAP stands for honesty and impartiality.”
DAP announces Zonal, District presidents. Full list inside
JAMMU: Democratic Azad Party (DAP) chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday announced names of several office bearers including the zonal and district presidents of the party besides appointing the head of party’s Jammu women wing.
Azad announced five zonal presidents for south and central Kashmir, Central Jammu, Chenab valley and Pir Panjal regions. Gulzar Ahmed Wani has been appointed as zonal presidents for South Kashmir, Peer Bilal for Central Kashmir, Chaudhary Gharu Ram for central Jammu, Prithviraj Manhas for Chenab Valley and advocate Zahid Malik for Pir Panjal. The committees would be constituted within a week’s time, a spokesman said.
The party also appointed 13 district presidents among whom Ayub Takur has been appointed as district president Pulwama, Mushtaq Ahmed Khandey as Shopian district president, Mir Muneer Kupwara district president, Shoaib Lone Baramulla district president and Vinod Sharma Jammu Urban district president.
Ashwani Khajuria has been appointed district president for Udhampur, Sushil Sharma for Rajouri, Brijeshwar Singh Bindoo for Kathua, Asif Jehan Gattu for Doda, Shabbir Ahmed Lone from Kishtwar, Surinder Singh from Reasi Rural, Rattan Singh (as working president) for Reasi rural and Bishan Mangotra for Reasi urban will act as district presidents.
“The remaining districts and committees will be announced soon,” the spokesman said.
Azad appointed Prabha Salathia as the president of Jammu province women wing of the party and said the members of the committee will be chosen later, the spokesman said.
He said Bashir Aarif has been appointed as the secretary to the chairman, while five prominent leaders were named as members of the Jammu province party along with eight general secretaries and nine secretaries.
“More names of office bearers and members of the executive committee will be announced later,” the spokesman said.
