National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) has demanded early Assembly polls and restoration of Statehood in J&K. Addressing a party meeting, NDPI J&K chief Rajesh Gupta said that situation in J&K has worsened due to the steps taken in 2019 and after it. There is a complete governance deficit,” he added.
The NDPI chief hit out at the Central Government for downgrading the historical state and snatching rights to land and jobs besides trade and business opportunities at the cost of locals and said that Government has failed to achieve any of the claimed benefits of August 2019 decision. Gupta asked Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) to restore statehood of Jammu and Kashmir before assembly elections and also to hold elections at the earliest so as to restore democratic setup in this region. He said that BJP is deliberately delaying assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir amid fear of backlash of its “anti-people” policies and failure of its proxy government.
He said Jammu and Kashmir is deprived of democracy for more than three and half years and there is total uncertainty about Assembly elections and restoration of statehood despite commitment on the floor of the house by the Prime Minister and Home Minister. He also opined that BJP should hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest so that democracy can get restored and people’s elected government assumes office which is immediate need of hour for redressal of public grievances and restoration of democratic setup.
“NDPI stands guarantee to peace, harmony, dignity, restoration of statehood and rights to land and jobs,” Gupta asserted. Those who attended the meeting were Umesh Manhas, Kuljeet Singh, Tilakraj, Rajiv Luthra, Sandeep Anand and others.

Srinagar, Jan 25 : National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra was meant to unite the country and was against hatred being sown between communities for electoral gains.
Stressing that people should unite for each other’s welfare, he said hate will only lead to misery.
“The aim of the Yatra is to unite the nation and break the (walls of) hatred. The message of this march is that unless we unite and think together for the welfare of each other, we cannot make the nation that our forefathers had dreamt of and given sacrifices for, ” Abdullah told reporters at Aushmuqam in Anantnag district.
The NC president was in the south Kashmir town to attend a condolence meeting.
Abdullah said hatred was being spread between communities in the country for “just winning the elections”.
“This approach will not take the nation and people towards prosperity, it will only lead to misery,” he added.
Referring to the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits three decades ago, the Lok Sabha member from Srinagar said he wanted them to return home with dignity in his lifetime.
“Our brothers had to leave this place. I wish the atmosphere turns conducive for their return to their homes with dignity and honor before i go to sleep, ” the 84-year-old added. PTI
Stage set for spectacular R-Day Parade 2023
President Droupadi Murmu will lead the nation in celebrating the 74th Republic Day from Kartavya Path in New Delhi tomorrow.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will be the chief guest at the parade that will witness zeal, enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and ‘Jan Bhagidari’, as envisioned by the Modi Government.
The week-long R-Day celebrations commenced on 23 January, the birth anniversary of great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. To mark the occasion, a one-of-a-kind Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance Festival ‘Aadi Shaurya – Parv Parakram ka’ was organised in New Delhi on 23-24 January. The events will culminate on 30 January, which is observed as Martyrs’ Day.
The celebrations are marked by attractive performances from Vande Bharatam group of dancers from across the country, tales of bravery by Veer Gatha 2.0 participants, melodious performances by School Bands at the National War Memorial, first-ever e-invitations, the largest-ever drone show and 3-D anamorphic projection.
The parade, which will begin at around 10:30 am, will be a unique mix of India’s military prowess and cultural diversity, depicting the country’s growing indigenous capabilities, Nari Shakti and emergence of a ‘New India’.
The parade ceremony will commence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial. He will lead the nation in paying solemn tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath. Thereafter, the PM and other dignitaries will head to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path to witness the parade.
As per tradition, the National Flag will be unfurled followed by the National Anthem with a booming 21-gun salute. Amongst the many firsts, the 21-gun salute will be given with 105-mm Indian Field Guns. It replaces the vintage 25-pounder gun, reflecting upon the growing ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in defence. Four Mi-17 1V/V5 helicopters of 105 Helicopter Unit will shower flower petals on the audience present at Kartavya Path.
The parade will commence with the President taking the salute. It will be commanded by Parade Commander Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, a second-generation army officer. Maj Gen Bhavnish Kumar, Chief of Staff, HQ Delhi Area will be the Parade Second-in-Command. The proud winners of the highest gallantry awards will follow.
Marching down the Kartavya Path for the first time will be the combined Band & Marching contingent of the Egyptian Armed Forces, led by Colonel Mahmoud Mohamed Abdel Fattah El Kharasawy. The contingent will consist of 144 soldiers, representing the main branches of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
A major highlight of the parade this year will be Veterans’ Tableau, with the theme ‘Towards India’s Amrit Kaal with Resolve – A Veterans’ Commitment”. It will provide a glimpse of veterans’ contributions in the last 75 years and their initiatives in shaping India’s future during ‘Amrit Kaal’.
Twenty-three tableaux, including 17 from states/Union Territories, depicting the nation’s rich cultural heritage, economic progress and strong internal and external security will also roll down the Kartavya Path.

NSS SMVDU organized a human chain formation of “JAI HIND” on the 165th birth
anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose also known as Parakram Diwas. The event
started with sharing information on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose by the NSS
Programme coordinator Dr. Rajiv Kumar and by the two NSS volunteers, namely Ayush
Arya and Sadhvi Sharma. The event was organzied in the university stadium and around
350 students participated in the human chain formation. The event ended with “Vande
Matram” and slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai”. A quiz competition was also organized for
students on the Parakram Diwas. The quiz competition was an amicable contest. Students
gladly took part in it. The event was conducted successfully by the NSS volunteers. Vice
Chancellor Prof. R.K. Sinha appreciated the efforts of team NSS for organizing the event.
Govt reminds employees about filing APRs, action for non-submission
Srinagar: The government on Thursday issued a reminder to its employees for filling details of annual property return as well as action over its non-submission by the end of this month.
“Vide Circular No. 52-JK(GAD) of 2022 dated 22.12.2022, all the employees working under Jammu and Kashmir Government have been advised to file their property returns for the year 2022 on the PRS portal, which is accessible on https://prs.ik.gov.in from 1st of January,2023 to 31 of January, 2023,” reads a fresh government circular.
However, the circular noted, that that a “sizeable” number of employees are yet to submit their property returns.
“The last date for filing of property returns is fixed for 31st of January, 2023, beyond which the Portal would automatically not accept the submission of the property returns and moreover, no manual submission shall be accepted in any case,” it said, adding, “It is clarified that non submission of property returns shall invite action against such defaulting employees under relevant provisions of law and shall result in denial of vigilance clearance as well.”
Accordingly, the government directed all the employees who are yet to submit their annual property returns for the year 2022 to submit the same immediately, well before the specified timeline of January 31.
“It is further enjoined upon all the Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOS) to ensure compliance with regard to filing of property returns by all the employees of their establishment. Further, Administrative Departments shall also assess the progress in this regard,” the circular added.
AK-47 rifles, magazines recovered in Poonch
POONCH: Security forces on Wednesday recovered arms and ammunition in Poonch district of Jammu division.
Official sources told that today during searches, police along with Army and CRPF in the area of Kalai Top, Shiendra, Ratta Jabbar and adjoining areas recovered war like Arms and ammunition.
He further said that among the recovery, 2 AK-47 rifles, 3 AK-47 magazines and 35 rounds of AK were recovered.
Republic Day Celebrated at Rich Harvest School
RHS Management, Principal, Staff and Students celebrated Republic Day and Basant Panchmi with a lot of joy and enthusiasm. In a Special Assembly rich tributes were paid to the Freedom Fighters through lectures, patriotic songs and poems. Floral tributes were paid to Maa Saraswati on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchmi.
The Principal, Ms Anita Bhatia, congratulated the Students and Staff on the momentous occasion. She motivated the students to live by the ideals of the selfless freedom fighters who attained freedom at a very high cost so that India could become a Republic after bidding adieu to the British rule. She asked all to pray to Maa Saraswati for enlightenment.
The programme culminated with the singing of the National Anthem.
President Murmu, PM Modi welcome Egyptian president at Rashtrapati Bhavan
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to India is believed to be ‘historic’ as he has come to the country for the first time and that too as a chief guest to attend the Republic Day Parade on January 26. El-Sisi was also welcomed by several other Union Ministers including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena among others.

Republic Day: Police medals for 901 personnel, 140 for gallantry
NEW DELHI, Jan 25: As many as 901 service medals, including 140 for gallantry, were announced by the Centre Wednesday for personnel of various central and state police forces on the eve of Republic Day. Among the 140 gallantry awards, 80 personnel from Left Wing Extremism affected areas and 45 from Jammu and Kashmir region are being awarded for their gallant action.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) published a list containing names of personnel who have been decorated with the Police Medal for gallantry, the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service and the Police Medal for meritorious service. “Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) has been awarded to 140, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) to 93 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) has been awarded to 668,” a home ministry spokesperson said.
“Among the personnel receiving Gallantry awards, 48 are from CRPF, 31 are from Maharashtra, 25 are from J&K Police, 9 are from Jharkhand, 7 are each from Delhi, Chhattisgarh and BSF and the remaining from the other States/UTs and CAPFs,” the spokesperson said.
Nineteen officers of a team of elite C60 commandos of Gadchiroli police, who killed 15 Maoists, including seven women, in an encounter in a forest area between Potegaon and Rajoli in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, in 2021, have been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG).
The highest number of bravery medals, 48, have been awarded to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), followed by 31 to the Maharashtra Police, 25 to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, nine to Jharkhand Police, seven each to Chhattisgarh Police, Border Security Force (BSF), Delhi Police, four to Madhya Pradesh Police, one each to the Assam Rifles and CISF.
The Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) is awarded on the ground of conspicuous gallantry in saving life and property, or in preventing crime or arresting criminals. The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) is awarded for a special distinguished record in Police Service and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) is awarded for valuable service characterised by resource and devotion to duty.
Bharat Jodo Yatra: Afternoon leg cancels due to poor weather, landslides
Jammu , Jan 25: An afternoon leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra has been cancelled due to the poor weather conditions and landslides in the area. The yatra was scheduled to visit Ramban and Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir.
Congress General Secretary in-charge Jairam Ramesh informed about the change of plans through a Twitter post. He said, “Due to poor weather conditions and landslides in the area, the afternoon leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Ramban & Banihal has been cancelled…Yatra will resume the day after, January 27th at 8 am.”
Today marks the 131 day of the Congress’ footmarch that started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, last year. Former Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resumed the Bharat Jodo Yatra today (January 25) from Maitra village in Ramban district.
