Gautam Adani Visits Maha Kumbh, Seeks Blessings of Maa Ganga

0

Renowned industrialist and Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, expressed his awe and admiration for the grandeur of the Maha Kumbh as he visited Prayagraj on Tuesday with his family. Adani, who arrived in the afternoon, took a holy dip and offered prayers at the Triveni Sangam, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Preeti Adani, Chairperson of Adani Foundation, son Karan Adani, daughter-in-law Paridhi Adani, and granddaughters. His younger son, Jeet Adani, also joined the family at the event.

Seeking Blessings for Family Occasion

Adani shared that his visit to the Kumbh was also to seek blessings from Maa Ganga ahead of a significant family occasion — the wedding of his son Jeet on February 7. He mentioned that the wedding would be a simple family affair, marking a special moment in the Adani family’s life.

Praising the Management of Maha Kumbh

Overwhelmed by the scale and organization of the Maha Kumbh, Adani praised the management of the event, emphasizing that even corporate houses could learn valuable lessons from the coordination and dedication that went into the Kumbh. “The efforts of everyone, from security personnel to sanitation workers, have been crucial to the success of this event,” he remarked.

He also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the seamless organization of the Maha Kumbh. He highlighted the remarkable development work being carried out in Uttar Pradesh and reiterated the Adani Group’s commitment to supporting the state’s growth. “Uttar Pradesh, with its population of 25-26 crores, has abundant possibilities for development, and the Adani Group stands with the state in this endeavor,” he said.

Participating in Seva at ISKCON

During his visit, Adani also participated in seva (service) activities at ISKCON, where he helped prepare prasad in the kitchen. Dr. Preeti Adani and Paridhi Adani were also seen engaging in the kitchen activities, applying ghee to rotis and peeling peas.

Spiritual Experience at Sangam

Adani later traveled by boat to the Sangam, where he took a holy dip and worshipped at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. The experience left him deeply moved. “When I arrived in Prayagraj, it felt as though the faith, spirit of service, and cultures from around the world had converged at the lap of Maa Ganga,” Adani reflected. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the government, administration, sanitation workers, and security forces for their tireless efforts in ensuring the smooth conduct of the Kumbh, serving the sadhus, saints, Kalpvasis, and devotees.

Philanthropic Pledge and Support for Kumbh

Adani’s visit also included a trip to the Gita Press pandal, where he distributed the Aarti collection. As part of his commitment to serving the community, Adani has pledged to distribute one crore Aarti collections in collaboration with Gita Press and feed one lakh people every day in partnership with ISKCON.

Before concluding his visit, Adani visited the Sri Shankaracharya Temple’s ‘Viman Mandap’ before returning to Ahmedabad.

Through his visit and contributions, Gautam Adani expressed his admiration for the Maha Kumbh’s sacred significance while reaffirming his dedication to supporting the spiritual and social causes surrounding the event.

Kalpvas: A Tradition of Austerity and Devotion at Maha Kumbh

0

Amid the grand spiritual atmosphere of the Maha Kumbh, 68-year-old Rohini Jha from Bihar’s Maithili region is enduring the biting cold and living in austerity as she performs Kalpvas – a month-long tradition that has been a part of the region’s spiritual heritage for centuries. She sleeps on the ground in her camp on the banks of the Sangam, wakes up early to take a holy dip, and has just one meal a day as part of the deeply rooted practice.

The Sacred Journey of Kalpvas

Kalpvas, which spans from Paush Purnima to Magh Purnima, is a significant practice for devotees, highlighting austerity, spiritual focus, and self-discipline. The tradition has been part of the spiritual landscape of India for centuries and is referenced in ancient texts such as the Mahabharata and the Ramcharitmanas. Rohini Jha, who is on her 11th Kalpvas, recalls that she began this sacred journey at the tender age of four, accompanying her parents. “It is believed that performing at least 12 Kalpvas is auspicious,” she shared, emphasizing the spiritual fulfillment it brings.

Embracing Simplicity and Detachment

Devotees who undertake Kalpvas forsake their comforts and lead a simple, detached life during this period. They reside in temporary tents near the Sangam, symbolizing their disconnection from worldly pleasures. “The more pain or difficulty you face during Kalpvas, the more successful it is… You feel closer to God, and free from worldly concerns,” Jha explained. She is accompanied by seven family members, all senior citizens, who also practice Kalpvas.

The practice, although challenging, strengthens spiritual devotion. Jha, who once slept directly on the sand, now uses bedding due to her age. “The rules of Kalpvas are strict, but now, people follow them flexibly. It’s the thought and the devotion that matters,” she added.

The Rigorous Daily Routine

Kalpvasis, the practitioners of Kalpvas, maintain a strict daily routine. They bathe at least twice a day in the holy waters of the Sangam — the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. They also attend spiritual discourses and listen to devotional music throughout the day. This strict regimen fosters inner purification and spiritual growth.

While family members and friends visit the Kalpvasis to seek blessings, they cannot stay for the entire month or follow the rigorous routine. Kalpvas usually begins with planting tulsi, bananas, and barley, marking the beginning of their disciplined and austere journey.

A Spiritual Family Tradition

For the Sharma family from Ballia, Kalpvas is more than a ritual – it is a tradition passed down through generations. “We set up our tent in the same familiar spot near the Ganga, and the elders share stories from their youth. The younger ones gradually learn about patience, resilience, and spirituality,” said VK Sharma. For them, Kalpvas is a blend of individual devotion and collective spiritual activities, from community service to quiet philosophical discussions around a fire in the evenings.

A Commitment to Spiritual Growth

The commitment to Kalpvas is seen as an intense spiritual journey, with devotees like Shivanand Pandey taking a break from their regular lives to focus solely on their religious practices. “Kalpvasis pledge to camp on the cold banks of the Sangam, bathe thrice a day in the sacred waters, and observe a disciplined lifestyle focused on patience, non-violence, and devotion,” Pandey explained. This pledge, according to tradition, must be followed for 12 continuous years to be fulfilled.

His wife, Neha Pandey, who has completed 12 Kalpvas, accompanies him each year, although she did not take the pledge this time due to health reasons. She believes in the auspiciousness of performing ‘seva’ — service — for a Kalpvasi. “The dawn dip in the Sangam is believed to cleanse both the body and the soul, absolving devotees of their sins,” she added.

The Growing Spiritual Gathering

The Maha Kumbh is a massive religious gathering that occurs every 12 years, with over seven crore pilgrims expected to take part this year. Over 15 lakh Kalpvasis are anticipated to participate, with each Kalpvasi typically accompanied by two or three people. The administration has made arrangements to ensure they have the support they need during their time at the Sangam.

Vivek Chaturvedi, Mahakumbh Nagar’s Additional District Magistrate, highlighted the importance of the event. “Most Kalpvasis are connected to religious organizations or seers, and they stay in tents arranged by their gurus. We also provide support for families who make their own arrangements,” he said.

The Essence of Kalpvas: Timeless and Unchanging

For 75-year-old Gopal Nuniwal, a seasoned Kalpvasi, the essence of Kalpvas remains unchanged despite the evolving landscape of the Kumbh. “It is not just an event; it is a way of life. It is a time to reconnect with your inner self and the divine,” he remarked.

As the Maha Kumbh continues, the practice of Kalpvas offers a profound spiritual experience for devotees who seek peace, devotion, and connection with the divine. For many, including Jha and the Sharma family, Kalpvas remains a deeply personal and transformative journey, marked by self-discipline, austerity, and a strengthened bond with their spirituality.

Mysterious Deaths in Badhaal Village: Investigation Underway, CM Assures Justice

0

The tragic deaths of 17 villagers in Badhaal, Rajouri district, have sparked widespread concern. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who visited the village today, assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to uncover the cause behind the mysterious deaths. His government is committed to finding answers and ensuring that such incidents do not repeat.

Investigation Underway

Addressing the media during his visit, Omar Abdullah confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the deaths. He stated that an inter-ministerial team from the Centre, along with local authorities, is working diligently to identify the cause. “Why this happened? We need an answer to this question. It’s not a disease, so a police investigation is underway,” the Chief Minister explained.

The deaths have predominantly affected children from three families, raising fears among the local population. Initial tests have ruled out any bacterial or viral outbreaks. “Our first focus was to determine if this was due to a contagious disease. Tests were conducted, and no harmful bacteria or viruses were found,” Omar Abdullah added.

Swift Response to Tragedy

Upon receiving information about the deaths, the state government acted swiftly. The Health and Medical Education department mobilized medical teams, and the district administration, alongside the police, worked to contain the situation. The authorities are investigating whether food or water contamination could be linked to the deaths, with initial reports suggesting the possibility of pesticide contamination in local water sources.

Assurance of Support

The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, assuring them of full support from the government. Omar Abdullah emphasized that immediate steps are being taken to prevent the spread of this tragedy to other families in the region. He also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri to provide all necessary assistance to the affected families.

During his visit, the Chief Minister was accompanied by key officials, including Minister for Jal Shakti Department Javed Rana and local MLA Javed Iqbal Choudhary. The MLA presented a proposal for compensation, which the CM confirmed was under active consideration.

Health Infrastructure Improvements

Responding to questions about the adequacy of healthcare facilities in the region, the Chief Minister acknowledged the challenges faced by remote areas. “While we cannot build large hospitals everywhere, we are working to improve health infrastructure at the district level,” Omar Abdullah said. He assured that efforts to strengthen Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, and Sub-District Hospitals would continue.

Central Government’s Involvement

A high-level team from the Centre, led by GK Garg, Director at the Ministry of Home Affairs, visited Badhaal to investigate the incident. The team is collecting food and water samples from the affected families to identify any potential contaminants. Authorities have already sealed a local spring after pesticide traces were detected in the water.

The Central team, working in close collaboration with local officials, is determined to identify the root cause of the tragedy. Experts are analyzing the collected samples, with early indications suggesting contamination as a possible cause.

Call for Restraint and Unity

In the wake of the incident, Omar Abdullah urged political leaders and the public to refrain from politicizing the tragedy. “Our priority is to understand what happened and ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future. Let the concerned agencies do their work without political interference,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are confident that answers will soon be provided to the public. Meanwhile, efforts to support the affected families continue, with the administration pledging timely compensation and assistance.

The Road Ahead

With the tragedy still unfolding, Badhaal remains at the center of attention. The investigation into the cause of the deaths is a top priority, and the cooperation of local and central authorities is crucial in bringing the matter to a close. The residents of Badhaal, and indeed the whole of Rajouri, await answers, and the government’s commitment to uncovering the truth remains unwavering.

As the investigation continues, the community hopes for justice and clarity, and that necessary measures will be taken to safeguard public health and prevent future disasters.

Kejriwal Slams BJP’s Election Manifesto, Calls It ‘Dangerous for the Country’

0

New Delhi, January 21, 2025Arvind Kejriwal, the former Delhi Chief Minister, on Tuesday strongly criticized the BJP’s election manifesto, calling it “dangerous for the country.” In a press conference, Kejriwal alleged that if the BJP were to come to power, they would shut down free education in government schools and dismantle free healthcare services, including the Mohalla Clinics that have become a vital service for Delhi’s poor.

Kejriwal’s Strong Allegations

Kejriwal accused the BJP of revealing its “true intentions” in the manifesto and warned voters about the party’s plans. He claimed that the BJP would end free education and healthcare, policies that he said were central to improving the lives of Delhi’s working-class citizens.

“If the BJP comes to power, they will stop free education, end free health facilities, and make it harder for the poor to survive in Delhi. This is a direct attack on the welfare of the common man,” Kejriwal stated, adding that the BJP’s proposed policies would disproportionately hurt Delhi’s lower-income population.

Blueprint for Closure of Essential Services

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader further alleged that the BJP’s Sankalp Patra (manifesto) outlined a blueprint for shutting down key government programs, including Mohalla Clinics and government schools, both of which have been integral to Delhi’s welfare programs in recent years.

“Mohalla Clinics and government schools have been a lifeline for many, providing affordable healthcare and education. The BJP wants to close them down, which will severely impact the poor and marginalized sections of society,” Kejriwal added.

Kejriwal’s Appeal to Voters

The former Chief Minister appealed to Delhi residents, urging them not to support the BJP in the upcoming elections, claiming that their policies would jeopardize the future of the country and harm Delhi’s poor. “The BJP’s manifesto is a threat to the future of Delhi and India,” Kejriwal emphasized.

BJP’s Response Pending

As of now, the BJP has yet to respond to Kejriwal’s serious allegations regarding their election manifesto.

Conclusion

Through his strong remarks, Arvind Kejriwal has painted the BJP’s election manifesto as a potential threat to the welfare of Delhi’s citizens, particularly the underprivileged. As the election nears, this issue is likely to remain a focal point in political discussions

AAP Unveils ‘Blank Book’ Mocking BJP’s Unmet Promises Ahead of Delhi Elections

0

New Delhi, January 21, 2025 — The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by unveiling a blank book titled “Bhajpa Ki Uplabdhiyan” (BJP’s Achievements), mocking the ruling party for failing to meet its key promises.

Sanjay Singh, a senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, addressed the media at a press conference, criticizing the BJP for repeatedly making promises during elections, only to fall short once in power. Singh pointed out that the BJP, after coming to power in 2014, promised a slew of measures that remain unfulfilled.

Promises Left Unfulfilled

“The BJP has ruled for many years, starting with the RSS in 1925, followed by Jansangh in 1952, and the formation of the BJP in 1980. During this time, they have made several promises to the people of India, but have failed to deliver,” Singh said. He listed several key pledges made by the BJP, including:

  • Transferring Rs 15 lakh to each citizen’s bank account
  • Creating 2 crore jobs annually
  • Providing pucca houses for all slum dwellers
  • Selling petrol at Rs 50 per litre
  • Strengthening the rupee against the dollar

Despite these promises, Singh asserted that the BJP has done little to fulfill them.

The Blank Book as a Symbol

AAP’s blank book serves as a stark visual metaphor, with the empty pages symbolizing the absence of the BJP’s achievements. The book’s content, or lack thereof, was used by Singh as a sly critique of the BJP’s unfulfilled commitments.

“While Prime Minister Narendra Modi made numerous promises to the people of Delhi, the BJP has never shared any real progress on fulfilling those promises. Today, AAP is presenting a complete and honest account of our own achievements to the nation,” Singh added.

The book also highlights promises specifically related to Delhi, such as:

  • Regularizing unauthorised colonies in the city
  • Doubling farmers’ incomes
  • Reducing the prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas cylinders

AAP claims that these promises made by PM Modi’s government have yet to be fulfilled.

Sarcastic Call for Support

Adding a layer of irony, the book sarcastically suggests that to “strengthen the nation” and support PM Modi, citizens should continue paying taxes without hesitation. This comment underlines AAP’s criticism of the BJP’s handling of national financial policies and its perceived lack of action on critical issues.

AAP’s Strong Criticism of BJP Leadership

In a formal statement, AAP emphasized that the blank book was an effort to sharply criticize the BJP and expose the false promises made by the party’s leaders, especially PM Modi.

“This book exposes the unkept promises made by BJP leaders, which were never fulfilled. It is a stark reminder of the misleading claims made to the people of India,” the statement read.

Sisodia’s Remarks on Social Media

Manish Sisodia, another prominent AAP leader, took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment on the book launch, stating: “It was crucial to present this book to the country, based on the achievements of the Bharatiya Jhootha Party. The public must see the magnitude of the lies the BJP has fed to the nation.”

Conclusion

Through this bold move, AAP has delivered a sharp political statement aimed at questioning the BJP’s track record and unfulfilled promises, particularly in the run-up to the Delhi elections. With the release of the blank book, AAP is making a pointed critique of the BJP’s leadership and its failure to deliver on the major commitments it made to the people of India.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Encourages NCC Cadets to Contribute to Vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047

0

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday called upon NCC cadets to work towards realizing the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, urging them to become the country’s valuable assets. Speaking at the NCC Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantt, Singh praised the cadets for their discipline, commitment, and patriotism, which he said play a pivotal role in nation-building.

Vision of a Developed India

Addressing the gathering, Singh highlighted the significance of youth in shaping the future of the nation, quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to transform India into a developed country by 2047. He reminded the cadets that Modi himself was an NCC cadet, emphasizing that fulfilling this vision is a responsibility shared by all NCC cadets.

Viksit Bharat does not mean just the development of land; it means the progress of 140 crore Indians living together in harmony despite our diverse social and cultural backgrounds,” Singh stated. “We must not only focus on our own growth but contribute positively to society, ensuring that India becomes a developed nation.”

Unity Amidst Diversity

Singh commended the cadets for the values of leadership, discipline, ambition, and patriotism instilled in them by the NCC. He drew attention to the unifying spirit of the cadets, despite their diverse backgrounds.

“Whenever I meet NCC cadets, I don’t just see a cadet in them. I see the reflection of India—a country with many bodies but one soul, many branches but one root,” he said. “Your energy and enthusiasm prove that India’s future is bright.”

Singh pointed out that India’s progress has been driven by the collective efforts of its citizens, especially its youth. “What India has achieved today is because of the hard work of every individual, especially the youth,” he added.

India’s Progress and National Unity

The Defence Minister also drew comparisons with other countries that gained independence around the same time as India. He highlighted that nations which upheld values of discipline, integrity, and national unity are thriving today, while those that did not remain mired in chaos.

He praised the NCC for inculcating these essential qualities in young individuals, making them strong contributors to the nation’s progress.

Leadership and Sacrifice: A Call to Action

In his address, Singh reflected on the true meaning of leadership, citing the heroism of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks as a source of inspiration for all. His sacrifice continues to resonate as a beacon of courage and patriotism for the nation.

The Minister urged the cadets to never stop learning and adapting. “Circumstances are constantly changing, and with them, new problems arise that require new skills and approaches. To stay ahead, skill development must remain a priority,” Singh said.

He encouraged the cadets to embrace challenges with a ‘never give up’ attitude, emphasizing that facing obstacles with confidence is key to success.

Guard of Honour & Commendation Ceremony

The event concluded with an impressive Guard of Honour presented by the cadets from all three NCC wings. The Defence Minister also presided over the Investiture Ceremony, where deserving cadets were awarded the Raksha Mantri Padak and Commendation Cards for their exemplary performance and dedication to duty.

Looking Ahead: A Bright Future for the Nation

With Rajnath Singh’s motivational address, the cadets were further inspired to contribute towards the country’s growth, unity, and leadership. As part of the NCC, these young individuals are poised to play a crucial role in realizing India’s aspirations of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
