Kalpvas Concludes at Maha Kumbh: Devotees Take Holy Dip on Maghi Purnima

0

Kalpvas Concludes on Maghi Purnima

  • Kalpvas, the month-long tradition at the Maha Kumbh, concludes on Maghi Purnima, with devotees taking a holy dip in the Sangam, performing rituals, and giving donations (daan).
  • The practice of Kalpvas involves self-discipline, fasting, introspection, and spiritual purification by living on the banks of the river for the duration.

 Significance of Kalpvas and Participation

  • This year, over 10 lakh devotees participated in Kalpvas at the Triveni Sangam, marking the spiritual importance of the event.
  • The practice is considered auspicious, particularly during the Maha Kumbh, which happens once every 12 years. This period holds immense significance in Hindu spirituality.

 Tradition and Spiritual Purification

  • Kalpvas has been a vital tradition during the Kumbh for centuries, with devotees fasting and practicing self-restraint. The culmination of this sacred cycle takes place at the Maha Kumbh, symbolizing purification and renewal.

High Airfares During Maha Kumbh Raise Concerns in Rajya Sabha

0

The Issue Raised in Rajya Sabha:

  • Congress leader Pramod Tiwari highlighted the dramatic price difference in airfares for flights to Prayagraj during the Maha Kumbh, mentioning fares from various cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi.
  • Tiwari criticized the government for what he referred to as “loot in the name of religion,” raising concerns about affordability for pilgrims attending the event.

Minister’s Response:

  • Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu defended the high airfares, explaining that the airfares are determined by market dynamics and driven by demand.
  • He emphasized that the Maha Kumbh, a once-in-144-year event, attracts pilgrims from around the world, creating a surge in demand. This, in turn, leads to higher fares.
  • He also discussed the government’s effort to increase Prayagraj airport’s capacity, noting that terminal space was expanded from 6,700 square meters to 18,000 square meters. Flight connections also grew from 8 to 15 destinations.

Patna’s Airport Limitations:

  • A key point raised by the Minister about Patna’s international flight limitations was explained in detail. The 2,000-meter runway at the existing Patna airport prevents large international aircraft from operating there.
  • To address this, the government has proposed a new greenfield airport to accommodate international flights.

BJP Criticizes National Conference for Lack of Roadmap in Jammu and Kashmir

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today criticized the National Conference (NC) Government for failing to deliver on its promises to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. BJP Chief Spokesperson, Sunil Sethi, addressed the media, accusing the NC of lacking a clear roadmap for the state’s development and governance.

Lack of Fulfillment of Promises

Sethi questioned the NC’s ability to live up to the commitments made in their manifesto, stating that despite their promises, none have been fulfilled. He pointed out that the NC had pledged free electricity to the people of Jammu and Kashmir but had backtracked, now stating that it would only be provided after metering systems are put in place.

“If they were aware of the requirement for metering, they should not have made such promises in the first place,” Sethi asserted. He urged the public to be cautious of political commitments that lack concrete plans for implementation.

The Politics of Deceit

Sethi also took a dig at the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, referring to the “politics of deceit” that he believes continues to dominate the region. He pointed to the recent Delhi elections as a reminder to political parties to refrain from making false promises that do not have the backing of a solid plan.

“In J&K, during the Assembly elections, we presented a clear roadmap for fulfilling our promises. The NC, on the other hand, released a manifesto but has not made any real efforts to implement its promises,” he said.

Statehood and Consolidation

When questioned about the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Sethi remarked that the region is currently in a phase of “consolidation” following the abrogation of Article 370 and the subsequent victory over terrorism. He stated that while the restoration of statehood remains a priority, it requires time to ensure proper consolidation.

“Statehood restoration will happen, but there will be no unnecessary delays. However, proper consolidation is necessary before it can be restored,” Sethi added.

Political Rhetoric and Anti-National Statements

Sethi also criticized the rising rhetoric among regional political parties. He accused them of competing to make anti-national and pro-separatist statements, with the PDP and NC both engaging in divisive politics.

“The true face of politics has been revealed after the abrogation of Article 370. While the political parties engage in this rhetoric, the common people continue to suffer,” Sethi remarked.

Constitution of J&K

Addressing concerns raised about the deletion of references to the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir during the ongoing formulation of business rules for the Assembly, Sethi clarified that the Constitution of J&K no longer exists.

“Even if statehood is restored, Jammu and Kashmir will be governed by the Constitution of India. The Constitution of J&K has been rendered obsolete,” he said, emphasizing the supremacy of the Indian Constitution.

Kathua Suicide Incident

On the ongoing investigation into the Kathua suicide incident, which allegedly followed police excesses, Sethi assured that the BJP had raised the matter with the relevant authorities. He promised a thorough inquiry and warned that anyone found guilty of wrongdoing would be held accountable.

“We have taken up the issue with the authorities, and a detailed investigation will be carried out. Anyone found guilty will not be spared,” he concluded.

Key Points from BJP’s Press Conference:

  • NC’s failure to deliver on promises such as free electricity.
  • Criticism of the NC’s lack of a clear roadmap for J&K’s development.
  • BJP’s stance on statehood restoration: “Proper consolidation is necessary.”
  • Accusations of anti-national rhetoric by regional parties.
  • Clarification that the Constitution of J&K no longer exists.
  • Ongoing investigation into the Kathua suicide incident with a promise of accountability.

The BJP continues to maintain that the path forward for Jammu and Kashmir is one of proper governance, transparency, and adherence to the Constitution of India.

Amarnath Yatra 2025: Preparations in Full Swing, Ensuring a Smooth and Safe Pilgrimage

The Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today urged all line departments and the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) to expedite preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2025. During the 14th High-Level Committee (HLC) meeting of SASB, which was attended by senior civil and security officials, the Chief Secretary stressed the need for ensuring that all arrangements are finalized well in advance to avoid last-minute rush and disruptions.

Timely Tendering and Procurement

The Chief Secretary directed all relevant departments, including Public Works Department (PWD), Public Health Engineering (PHE), Rural Development Department (RDD), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and others, to complete tendering and procurement processes by next month. This proactive approach aims to ensure that essential services, including infrastructure, power supply, and sanitation, are in place ahead of time.

Safety First: Mapping Disaster-Prone Zones

Safety remains a top priority for the upcoming yatra. Chief Secretary Dulloo instructed the Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag and Ganderbal to identify and mark disaster-prone areas along the pilgrimage routes. He emphasized that no utilities, including tents, should be set up in these areas. Additionally, the Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction (DMRR&R) Department was tasked with coordinating with district administrations to create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure the safe passage of pilgrims.

Role of Nodal Officers

The Chief Secretary also urged each department to designate a nodal officer responsible for coordinating the finalization of preparations for the yatra. These officers will oversee their department’s specific duties, ensuring a smooth and well-organized event.

Infrastructure Upgrades: Power, Water, and Connectivity

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary took stock of the budgetary needs and emphasized that the PDD (Power Development Department) should complete the task of undergrounding high-tension (HT) and low-tension (LT) power lines. Additionally, the Jal Shakti Department was urged to finalize the installation of an anti-freezing pipeline system to ensure uninterrupted water supply.

The issue of adequate traffic management was also discussed. The Chief Secretary called on the Traffic Police Department to devise a comprehensive plan to prevent traffic snarls, ensuring pilgrims and locals face no commuting hurdles during the yatra. Meanwhile, the Police Department was instructed to deploy sufficient personnel along the routes for security and facilitation.

Health and Sanitation: Ensuring Well-Being of Pilgrims

The Health Department was reminded to mobilize adequate manpower to keep base hospitals operational, along with other health facilities en route. They were also directed to initiate the process of inviting additional health personnel from outside, following the usual practice.

On sanitation, both the RDD and H&UDD were tasked with ensuring proper facilities such as toilets and bath units at key locations along the route. These facilities must be supplemented by continuous water supply and adequate hygiene measures, so as to provide a comfortable environment for pilgrims.

Technology and Communication: Streamlining the Yatra Experience

The Chief Secretary also discussed the need to streamline the registration process for pilgrims. Only RFID registered pilgrims, with valid health certificates, will be allowed to participate in the yatra. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) was asked to send daily weather updates to registered pilgrims to help them plan their journey better.

The installation of essential amenities like lights, water tanks, backup generators, communication towers, and public address systems at every camp location was also emphasized. These measures are aimed at providing a safe, comfortable, and connected environment for the pilgrims.

BROADENING the Scope for Improvements

CEO SASB, Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, briefed the meeting on the past arrangements and highlighted areas where improvements are necessary. He shared insights into the work already undertaken post-yatra 2024 and elaborated on the scope for enhancing infrastructure, such as the upgrade of yatra tracks by the BRO. Additionally, he gave details about disaster mitigation measures, prepaid hiring systems, camp holding capacity, and other essential requirements.

The Road Ahead

With just a few months left before the commencement of the yatra, all departments are working in tandem to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. From infrastructure development to safety measures and health facilities, every aspect of the yatra is being meticulously planned and executed.

As the days get closer to the start of the 2025 Amarnath Yatra, all eyes are on the seamless coordination and tireless efforts of government departments and local authorities to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of every pilgrim.

BJP STAGES A HISTORIC COMEBACK IN DELHI, ENDING AAP’S 10-YEAR RULE

0

In a landmark victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to make a thumping comeback in Delhi after more than 26 years, sweeping away the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections. As per the latest counting trends on the Election Commission website, BJP has secured a commanding lead in 48 seats, while AAP trails with 22 seats in the 70-member assembly.

This decisive win not only signals BJP’s resurgence in the national capital but also extends its saffron footprint across the country, further consolidating its electoral dominance.

KEJRIWAL STARES AT DEFEAT, AAP STRUGGLES TO HOLD GROUND

The AAP faced a massive setback with its top leaders struggling to secure their constituencies. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, contesting from the New Delhi seat, found himself in a tug-of-war battle, trailing BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh by over 1,170 votes after nine rounds of counting. Meanwhile, his former deputy, Manish Sisodia, conceded defeat in Jangpura.

The Congress, once a dominant force in Delhi under the late Sheila Dikshit, failed to win a single seat, marking yet another electoral wipeout in the national capital.

BIG ISSUES THAT SHAPED THE ELECTIONS

The high-voltage campaign revolved around key local and governance issues. BJP’s strategy to highlight Kejriwal’s lavish residence expenses (‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy) and corruption allegations in the excise policy scandal seemed to have resonated strongly with voters.

AAP, on the other hand, defended itself by claiming it was being “stifled” by the Lieutenant Governor and the Central Government. However, this narrative did not seem to garner the public support it had hoped for.

BJP CELEBRATES, CONGRESS AND AAP LEFT IN CRISIS

At BJP headquarters, celebrations erupted as workers danced to drumbeats, waved saffron flags, and chanted slogans in praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi declared, “The people have trusted the vision of PM Modi. They have chosen development over corruption.”

In contrast, AAP headquarters were in turmoil as party leaders huddled in emergency meetings, contemplating their next move. The Congress office remained largely deserted, marking the continued decline of the once-powerful party in Delhi.

WHAT’S NEXT? BJP TO PICK DELHI’S NEXT CHIEF MINISTER

While the BJP has secured a decisive victory, the party has yet to announce who will take over as Delhi’s new Chief Minister. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva confirmed that the Central leadership will decide on the CM candidate soon.

“The people have chosen BJP for a strong, stable, and development-driven government. We will work towards a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Delhi under PM Modi’s leadership,” he stated.

DELHI MOVES INTO A NEW POLITICAL ERA

As Delhi transitions into a new phase under BJP rule, all eyes will be on the new governance model and how it tackles the pressing issues of pollution, infrastructure, and urban development. Will BJP be able to deliver on its promises, or will the tide turn again in the future? Only time will tell.
