Jammu, September 2: Abhay Kumar Mahajan, IPS (Retd), has expressed his profound gratitude to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command upon being entrusted with the role of Co-Convener of the Employees Cell, Jammu & Kashmir.

In his statement, Mahajan conveyed his sincere thanks to BJP National President J.P. Nadda, BJP National General Secretary and J&K Prabhari Tarun Chugh, BJP J&K President Sat Sharma, and BJP General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Koul for entrusting him with this significant responsibility.

Reaffirming his steadfast commitment, Mahajan pledged to discharge his duties with utmost dedication and integrity. He affirmed that, as a devoted soldier of the BJP, he would leverage his experience as a former employee to further strengthen the organization and work diligently for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

JAMMU, SEPT 1:  Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the J&K Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Monday, briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Raj Bhawan Jammu about the extensive damage and distress caused by recent cloudbursts, incessant rainfall, and flash floods in various parts of the Jammu region.

On the second day of his visit to the Union Territory to personally assess the aftermath of the natural calamity, Home Minister Amit Shah was briefed in details the loss of precious human lives, livestock, damage to movable and immovable properties, and the sufferings of the people. Sunil Sharma strongly urged the Home Minister to constitute special central teams to assess the damage across the affected districts.

He emphasized the need for these teams to conduct a detailed and transparent survey so that required relief and rehabilitation measures can be planned. He also demanded an immediate relief package for the calamity-hit areas and affected population, highlighting the urgent need for financial support, temporary shelters, food supplies, and restoration of basic services. The scale of destruction is alarming. Roads have been washed away, power infrastructure is damaged, water supply systems are paralyzed, and several remote areas are cut off, he informed the HM.

Sunil Sharma further shared that the people of the affected areas are in distress and need the government’s immediate intervention. The LoP slso called for a comprehensive relief and rehabilitation package aimed at rebuilding damaged infrastructure and restoring normal activities. He particularly highlighted the sectors of roads, electricity, and water supply, which have suffered the most due to the floods.

Sunil Sharma reiterated the importance of long-term mitigation measures and better disaster preparedness mechanisms to safeguard lives and livelihoods in the future. The Union Home Minister assured that the Centre stands with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in this hour of crisis and that all necessary steps will be taken for timely relief and restoration.

Jammu, September 1: Abhay Kumar Mahajan, IPS (Retd), Co-convener of J&K BJP Senior Citizen Cell and Chairman of the National Advisory Board NFJM, has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong and clear message at the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held in Tianjin, China.

Mahajan praised the Prime Minister for firmly exposing Pakistan’s support to terrorism while addressing more than 20 foreign leaders and 10 heads of international organisations. PM Modi recalled the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed, and underscored that terrorism, remains the biggest challenge to global peace.

Highlighting India’s approach towards SCO, the Prime Minister outlined three core pillars — Security, Connectivity, and Opportunity. He stressed that while India seeks cooperation under these pillars, terrorism, separatism and extremism pose serious obstacles. “Terrorism is not only a challenge to the security of one country, but a common threat to entire humanity,” he said.

PM Modi also raised concern over terror financing and radicalisation, pointing out that India has been facing the brunt of terrorism for over four decades. He expressed gratitude to friendly nations that stood with India after the Pahalgam attack, noting the immense loss of innocent lives to terrorism.

The Prime Minister further reiterated India’s resolve to move ahead with the mantra of Reform, Perform and Transform, turning challenges such as the Covid pandemic and global economic instability into opportunities. He also suggested the creation of a Civilizational Dialogue Forum under SCO to promote people-to-people ties and showcase ancient civilizations, art, literature, and traditions on the global stage.

Calling for peace, security, and stability as the foundation of prosperity, PM Modi urged member countries to take firm and coordinated action against terrorism in all its manifestations. Without naming any country, he underlined that there should be no double standards in dealing with terrorism and stressed accountability for those supporting cross-border terror.

Mahajan said the Prime Minister’s “clear and bold stand” at the SCO sends out a strong message that terrorism must be opposed in all forms and colors, adding that it reflects India’s duty towards humanity and its commitment to global peace.
