Jammu: In a tragic incident on Saturday, an Indian Army soldier lost his life in a gunfight with terrorists along the Doda-Udhampur border in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports indicate that three to four operatives of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) are currently trapped in the area.

On April 25, another soldier faced a similar fate during an engagement in the same region. Multiple skirmishes have erupted recently in Udhampur, Rajouri, and Poonch sectors, highlighting the persistent presence of militants in Jammu. The security forces are acting decisively against these growing threats, as they continue to search for the entrenched terrorists.

Security officials emphasized that the latest armed confrontation signals ongoing attempts by Pakistan-based groups to infiltrate terrorists into the Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley regions of Jammu. These attempts have heightened since Operation Sindoor in May, which successfully targeted various terror camps.

The Indian Army remains committed to eliminating militant threats in the region. Security personnel are employing robust strategies and tactics, including coordinated patrols and intelligence-sharing among various branches of the military and local law enforcement agencies.

As these operations unfold, the recent sniper attacks indicate that these terrorists are increasingly resorting to guerrilla tactics. Local security analysts express concern over the evolving strategies employed by these groups, underscoring the importance of a united front against terrorism.

Military sources confirmed that the area remains heavily monitored, and ground forces are on high alert. Residents in surrounding villages have been advised to report any suspicious movements to the authorities.

Emphasizing this, the Jammu and Kashmir police reiterated their commitment to enhancing security protocols, calling on citizens to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement in their endeavors.

The ongoing gunfight serves as a sobering reminder of the challenges faced by the Indian security forces in combating terror in Jammu and Kashmir. As they continue to pursue these militants, the sacrifice of brave soldiers will never be forgotten.

As investigations proceed, further updates will provide clarity on the situation and any subsequent threats posed by these militant groups. The Indian military’s resolve remains unwavering, and operations will continue until peace and security are restored in these troubled areas.

Sinha emphasized the importance of AI-powered systems, which enable healthcare professionals to detect early signs of diseases and eye problems. “Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other hospitals must leverage these technologies to ensure that residents of Jammu and Kashmir have access to the same quality of care as patients in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai,” he urged.

Police arrested a man named Sunit alias “Katua” from Nagla Hardayal in Mathura on charges of threatening Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through a viral social media video. The incident occurred on September 22, prompting immediate action from law enforcement.

Sunit appeared in the video brandishing a pistol and frighteningly claimed he would shoot the Chief Minister by September 25. He ominously indicated he would end his own life afterwards. The unsettling footage showcased him displaying a pistol magazine, stating it held nine bullets, threatening to “fire all nine”.

Reports suggest that Sunit expressed frustration over a complaint he had lodged with the CM’s office but felt ignored. This perceived negligence led him to resort to issuing this extreme threat to grab attention, as stated in the video that has since circulated online.

On Friday evening, police arrived at his residence to effect the arrest. However, Sunit barricaded himself inside and began firing shots from the third floor, threatening to take his own life if approached. After an extended, tense standoff lasting almost an hour, officers subdued and arrested him, seizing a pistol along with live ammunition from his possession.

Local residents characterize Sunit as having been under significant mental distress. Many noted he had expressed his grievances loudly, and his behavior had reportedly become increasingly erratic in recent months. “He often spoke about his personal issues and seemed troubled,” said one neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.

The alarming video quickly spread across social media platforms, which accelerated law enforcement’s response. Investigators are now delving into how Sunit acquired the weapon as well as his underlying motives for the threat.

A case against Sunit includes serious charges such as criminal intimidation, incitement to violence, and illegal possession of arms. Police confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to explore all aspects of the situation.

As incidents of threats against public officials rise, citizens and law enforcement remain vigilant, emphasizing the need for mental health awareness and support systems to prevent such alarming cases in the future.

Congress Critiques Modi as ‘Weak PM’ Over H-1B Visa Changes

0

Congress leaders have labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘weak PM’ after the recent announcement of a significant fee hike for H-1B visas by the United States. This proclamation comes as a demand to prioritize India’s national interests, particularly as the changes will heavily impact Indian tech workers.

The criticism gained momentum after US President Donald Trump announced on Friday a new fee of USD 100,000 for H-1B visas, which are crucial for highly skilled professionals working in the US. This move has raised alarms in India, where around 70% of H-1B visa holders are Indian nationals.

Leaders from the Indian National Congress party have been vocal about their concerns. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge expressed disappointment, emphasizing that foreign policy should prioritize the Indian populace rather than superficial diplomatic events.

Significant Financial Impact on Indian Workers

According to Kharge, the new fee structure threatens the future of what he described as the “best and brightest minds from India.” He pointed out that the forecasted economic impact could reach around Rs 2.17 Lakh crore across multiple sectors due to these changes.

“India First should be our foreign policy mantra,” Kharge stated. “It must not be characterized by hollow displays and loud optics that jeopardize our strategic interests.”

Voices from Congress: Strong Opposition to Modi

Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, made a strong statement on social media, reiterating concerns over Modi’s leadership: “India has a weak PM.” His sentiments echo the growing frustration among opposition leaders regarding the government’s handling of critical issues like H-1B visas.

Citing the HIRE Act, Kharge accused the US of targeting Indian outsourcing, underscoring the potential opening for economic peril. He also criticized the lifting of tariff exemptions on the strategically important Chabahar port.

Echoing these sentiments, Congress deputy leader, Gaurav Gogoi, reflected on the boldness of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, contrasting it with what he sees as Modi’s hesitance. “The current stance is detrimental to our national interests,” Gogoi asserted.

Analysis of the H-1B Visa Program Changes

Trump’s recent declaration not only raises fees but also emphasizes the administration’s broader agenda of tightening immigration policies. In his proclamation, he described the H-1B visa system as subject to exploitation and asserted that it has placed American jobs at risk.

The H-1B visa program was originally designed to fill essential high-skilled roles. However, leaders like Trump insist it has been used to displace American workers by bringing in lower-paid foreign labor.

Political Repercussions and Future Outlook

The Congress party’s outcry reflects deep-rooted concerns over Modi’s diplomatic style and foreign policy management. As Modi’s critics assert, remaining silent over these policies can have severe repercussions for India’s technological and economic sectors.

Party spokesperson Pawan Khera reiterated Gandhi’s past warnings, reflecting on how the H-1B visa issue was overlooked in past discussions with Trump. “This highlights a consistent trend of neglect from our current leadership,” Khera stated.

In conclusion, the recent push by US President Trump regarding the H-1B visa program has opened a floodgate of criticisms directed at Prime Minister Modi. With Congress leaders rallying behind a call for a more robust foreign policy, it remains to be seen how this situation will develop and its implications for Indian tech workers and economic growth.

Anti-Terrorist Operation in Kishtwar

An anti-terrorist operation is currently underway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, marked by fierce encounters with suspected terrorists. The operation began on September 19, 2025, when the alert troops of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps established contact with terrorists around 8 PM. As a result, heavy exchanges of fire ensued, showcasing the volatility of the situation.

Security forces have intensified operations in the region to neutralize terrorist threats effectively. This proactive approach underscores the commitment of Indian security forces to maintain peace and order in this troubled area.

Weapons Recovered in Poonch

In a parallel operation in Poonch district, the joint forces successfully recovered war-like stores, including an AK-47 series weapon, four magazines, 20 hand grenades, and various other munitions. The recovery highlights the ongoing efforts of the security forces to dismantle terrorist supply chains and prevent potential threats from escalating.

The White Knight Corps stated on social media, “#JointOperation | Recovery of War Like Stores. Alert #WhiteKnightCorps troops while carrying out an Intelligence based joint search operation with #JKP recovered one weapon (AK Series), four AK magazines, 20 hand grenades, and other war-like stores in Poonch Sector.”

Strategic Combined Operations Against Terrorism

These operations are part of a broader strategy employed by the Indian Army and local police, aiming to combat terrorism and related criminal activities in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The coordinated efforts focus not only on apprehending terrorists but also on targeting their overground workers (OGWs) and sympathizers, as well as drug smugglers and hawala money racketeers.

Intelligence agencies have indicated that many terrorist funding networks are connected to drug trafficking within the region. By dismantling these syndicates, security forces aim to disrupt the infrastructure that sustains terrorism in J&K.

Geographical Challenges in Counter-Terrorism

Jammu and Kashmir presents a challenging operational environment. The region shares a 240 km-long International Border and a 740 km-long Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan. The Border Security Force (BSF) guards the International Border, whereas the Indian Army secures the LoC.

This geographical complexity requires ongoing vigilance and a multi-pronged approach from security forces. The ability to conduct successful operations in such challenging terrain demonstrates the effectiveness of the Indian Army and allied forces.

Public Safety Remains a Priority

The current operations underscore the commitment of the Indian Armed Forces to ensure public safety and security. Major General Rakesh Kumar Singh, the commanding officer of the White Knight Corps, emphasized, “Our goal is to ensure that the people of J&K can live in peace. Operations will continue until we eliminate every threat from terrorism.”

Residents of Kishtwar and Poonch districts are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. The cooperative efforts between security forces and local communities are pivotal in achieving long-term stability.

As the situation develops, updates will be provided to keep the public informed of any further operations or security measures. Ensuring safety in this vital region remains the highest priority.

Who Was Arrested?

The officer, Sargaraz Ahmad Bhat, was serving as the State Sales Tax Officer at the Silk Factory office in Solina, Srinagar. He was caught in the act of receiving bribe money, a situation that has alarmed many within the local government.

What Happened During the Arrest?

According to CBI sources, the arrest stemmed from a formal complaint alleging corruption. CBI agents set up a trap and caught Bhat red-handed while he was accepting the bribe in his office. “The officer was taken into custody immediately after the transaction, and the bribe money was recovered from him,” said one official involved in the operation.

Why This Arrest Matters

The CBI has registered a formal case against Bhat, and investigations are ongoing to determine if he has participated in other corrupt practices.

CBI’s Ongoing Fight Against Corruption

The CBI’s actions come amid increasing scrutiny of public servants in Jammu and Kashmir, an area ripe for corruption scandals. Recent statistics indicate that corruption-related arrests in India have seen a rise, as agencies like the CBI focus on cleaning up administrative processes. This recent case serves as a reminder to all public officials that the CBI is actively monitoring and tackling corruption.

Local residents have expressed support for the CBI’s efforts, saying that integrity in public service is vital for community trust and development. “We need these initiatives to ensure that our government operates with transparency and fairness,” remarked one Srinagar resident.

Telangana Techie Shot by US Police After Altercation

0

A tragic incident unfolded in Santa Clara, California, when Mohammed Nizamuddin, a 30-year-old tech professional from Mahabubnagar, Telangana, was shot dead by police following a domestic altercation. The incident occurred on September 3, 2023, during a dispute with his roommate that allegedly escalated to violence over an air conditioner.

When the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) responded to a 911 call regarding the stabbing incident, they found Nizamuddin holding a knife and pinning down his injured roommate. The authorities claim that they instructed both men to show their hands. While the roommate complied, Nizamuddin did not follow the order. This led to officers opening fire, resulting in Nizamuddin’s death.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, officers fired four rounds during the altercation. One of Nizamuddin’s relatives expressed deep concern about the lack of inquiry into the shooting. They lamented that the response was too quick, stating, “It is extremely regrettable that no proper inquiry took place and the shooting happened so quickly.”

Investigations are ongoing, and the circumstances surrounding Nizamuddin’s shooting remain under scrutiny. Notably, his family has raised serious allegations of racial discrimination, claiming that the police’s actions highlight a systemic issue.

Nizamuddin’s Background and Concerns

Nizamuddin’s father, Mohammed Hasnuddin, has reached out to India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, requesting assistance in repatriating his son’s body back to Mahabubnagar. The family learned of Nizamuddin’s death on September 18, amplifying their distress. Hasnuddin remains uncertain about the circumstances of the police shooting, stating, “I don’t know the actual reasons why the police shot him.”

Reports indicate that Nizamuddin’s body is currently held at a Santa Clara hospital, awaiting arrangements for its return to India.

Concerns Over Discrimination

Nizamuddin had previously voiced concerns about his experiences in the United States through a viral LinkedIn post. In this post, he outlined instances of racial harassment, wage fraud, and wrongful termination, raising alarms about the challenges faced by Indian tech professionals abroad. He wrote about being a victim of “racial hatred, racial discrimination, racial harassment, torture, wage-fraud, wrongful termination and obstruction of justice.”

His call for an end to what he deemed the “racist white American mentality” resonated with many, drawing attention to the issues that immigrants, particularly from India, encounter in the tech industry. With the staggering number of international professionals in the U.S.—approximately 2 million Indian professionals—Nizamuddin’s tragic fate has underscored the need for better treatment and protections for foreign workers.

Family Appeals and Ongoing Investigation

As the investigation continues, Nizamuddin’s family is demanding a thorough examination of the police’s actions. They argue that their loved one should not have lost his life without a concerted effort to de-escalate the situation. “The family believes that racial discrimination influenced the police’s quick response,” one family friend stated.

The community has rallied around Nizamuddin’s family, voicing their support and calling for justice. Local Indian organizations have also come forward to highlight the need for improved oversight of police conduct, particularly regarding racial bias.

Discussions surrounding this incident have sparked broader conversations around racial issues in America, and many are now calling for solid reforms to ensure better treatment of individuals regardless of their background.

As the investigation unfolds, the family hopes to attain clarity and justice for Mohammed Nizamuddin, ensuring that his rightful legacy as a dedicated tech professional is remembered amidst this tragedy.
