Dr Karan Singh’s statement endorses Azad’s claims in his resignation letter: Balwan Singh

0

Jammu: A statement by Dr Karan Singh that his relations with his party are “almost zero” has actually endorsed former J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s claims in his resignation letter with regard to functioning of Congress party. This was stated by former MLA Thakur Balwan Singh reacting over Dr Karan Sing’s statement adding that the way people throng Azad’s public rallies indicates that they are determined to be part of the realistic politics in Jammu and Kashmir under the dynamic leadership of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Balwan Singh asserted that former J&K Chief Minister’s new party will not let down the people of J&K as the party, unlike the conventional political parties, has set achievable goals to ensure a better future for the people, especially the youth. He said Azad’s policy and goals are unambiguous and attainable. We want sustained peace here so that people could reap its benefits in terms of their political and economic empowerment. A peaceful atmosphere in J&K will fetch us everything that matters to the people.

Cautioning people against attempts to polarise the situation in the region ahead of assembly elections, Balwan Singh said politics is meant to bring people closer to each other but “there are some parties who are out to divide people on the name of religion, region, caste and creed. We cannot afford internal fighting. If we have to move forward, we have to stand united and not fall to mischievous propaganda,” Singh said, adding “we have to bring down the walls of hatred and become one for our nation and its progress and prosperity.” He said Azad Sahib never played politics on the basis of region or religion. “We will continue to work for the betterment of the people, their prosperity and ensure no discrimination.

He said, “Our struggle is based on justice as our state was snatched along with our rights over land and jobs.” “We have never imagined that the largest Dogra state will be downgraded. This has happened for the first time in our country and no other government can think of such a flawed decision, he said, adding “I regret the thought which led to the suffering of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” We need a change which is possible when you support us. You have seen the rule of National Conference, PDP and BJP and now it is easy for you to decide whom to vote for,” he said, appealing to the people to reject the parties dividing them. We need a change which is possible when you support us.

Singh said that to bring a transformation in their socio-economic lives, people of J&K must afford one chance to Azad Sahib with a decisive mandate, as his credentials as a development-oriented personality are well established. Former MLA said that Ghulam Nabi Azad being a selfless leader believes in peace and prosperity and there exists no example which can be cited from the history of state politics where such multiple contributions have been made by anyone in this shortest duration. He reiterated that Azad’s unrelenting efforts and visionary policies resulted in empowerment of common masses which is the reason that people are now comparing the era of Azad with the tenure of other leaders and they reach to a prudent conclusion that no past example exists in this behalf.

Singh further said our new party will focus on the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, protection of land and jobs for its residents and the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, he said. He said Azad Sahib has clear and practical agenda and asked people to support him in achieving the target to take Jammu and Kashmir to new heights of development and prosperity. He said restoration of full statehood, right to land and employment to native domiciles, creating employment and return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits are top priorities of Azad Sahib.

Singh further said people of J&K should support Azad Sahib to ensure honour, dignity, respect and integrity of the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir and start confidence-building together. Expressing concerns over growing unemployment, Singh said, “former CM has a plan for the creation of job opportunities. Singh claimed that under leadership of Azad Sahib, people of J&K are ready to support him to fight to ensure justice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir as his vast political experience will definitely bring down the “walls of hatred” for prosperity and development.

“A total of 1000 motorised tricycles were distributed in the first phase in July this year and this has brought a paradigm shift in the lives of those 1000 beneficiaries,” the LG said.

“Social Welfare Department is implementing a comprehensive plan to reach out to the beneficiaries and a special enrolment campaign was launched. With the dedicated efforts, the number of beneficiaries receiving the pension benefits has doubled,” he said. “Our objective is to achieve 100 percent saturation of schemes for Divyangjan, women, and senior citizens in the current financial year.”

The LG said that the Central Government Act for the Welfare of the Senior Citizen which was not applicable in J&K before August 2019 had been implemented.

“Elderline helpline is meeting their needs and geriatric wards have also been started for the care of the elderly in all the district hospitals,” he said.

PM Modi releases 8 cheetahs in MP’s Kuno National Park

0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday released eight cheetahs into Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park.

PM Modi released two cheetahs from enclosure number one and after that about 70 meters away, from the second enclosure released another cheetah.
The cheetahs were declared extinct from India in 1952 but today 8 cheetahs (5 females and 3 males) were brought from Africa’s Namibia as part of ‘Project Cheetah’ and the government’s efforts to revitalise and diversify the country’s wildlife and habitat.

The eight cheetahs were brought in a cargo aircraft in Gwalior as part of an inter-continental cheetah translocation project. Later, the Indian Air Force choppers carried the cheetahs to Kuno National Park from Gwalior Air Force Station.

Radio collars have been installed in all the cheetahs to be monitored through satellite. Apart from this, there is a dedicated monitoring team behind each cheetah who will be monitoring their location for 24 hours.

Cheetahs have been brought under an MoU signed earlier this year.
Cheetahs will help in the restoration of open forest and grassland ecosystems in India and will help conserve biodiversity and enhance the ecosystem services like water security, carbon sequestration and soil moisture conservation.

Earlier, SP Yadav, Project Cheetah chief, “Cheetah is said to be the fastest animal. It runs at a speed of 100-120 km per hour. The habitat that has been selected in Kuno is very beautiful and ideal, where there are large grasslands, small hills, and forests and it is very suitable for cheetahs. Heavy security arrangements have been made in Kuno National Park. Arrangements have been done to prevent poaching activities.”

Under the ambitious Project Cheetah of the Indian government, the reintroduction of wild species particularly cheetah was undertaken as per the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) guidelines.
India has a long history of wildlife conservation. One of the most successful wildlife conservation ventures ‘Project Tiger’, which was initiated way back in 1972, has not only contributed to the conservation of tigers but also of the entire ecosystem.

In continuation of this, the reintroduction of cheetahs is one step ahead and a milestone in the history of wildlife conservation in India.
