School timing in Jammu from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.

JAMMU, Sept 30: The School Education Department on Friday changed school timing for all government and private institutions of summer zone areas of Jammu division from 9 Am to 3 pm.
Director of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) in a official communique has ordered, “All the government and recognised private schools falling in summer zone of Jammu division shall observe school timing as 9:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M within Municipal Limits.”
However from outside the municipal limits or the rural areas of the region, the school timing shall be from 10:00 Am to 4:00 Pm areas from October-01.

Terrorists Killed In Pattan Were Planning To Attack Agniveer Recruitment Rally In Baramulla: Police

SRINAGAR, Sept 30: Two terrorists killed in an encounter in Yedipora village of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday, were planning to carry out attack on Army’s Agniveer recruitment rally in the district, police said.
Senior superintendent of Police Baramulla, Rayees Mohmammad Bhat addressing a press conference, said that the slain had come to Baramulla with a motive to attack army’s recruitment rally, which is going on at 10 Sector Hyderbeigh headquarters in the district.
He said that based on a specific intelligence inputs, a joint cordon and search operation was launched in the village and during searches contact was established with the hiding terrorists.
In the ensuing encounter two local Jaish terrorists were killed as claimed by ADGP Kashmir.
SSP Baramulla said their identity is being ascertained.
“An AK-74U, a new version of AK-47, which is being carried by foreign terrorists was also recovered from the encounter site. In addiction, one AK rifle, 3 magazines, pistol along with magazine and 2 bullets were also recovered,” SSP said. (AGENCIES)

RBI raises repo rate by 50 basis points

Mumbai, Sept 30: In the monetary policy announcements, Reserve Bank of India on September 30, 2022, announced an increase in repo rate by 50 basis points to 5.9 per cent.
The announcement was made by the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of RBI.
This is the fourth consecutive rate hike after a 40 basis points increase in May and 50 basis points hike each in June and August. In all, RBI has raised benchmark rate by 1.90% since May this year.
The six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) headed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das decided in favour of the rate hike.
The RBI said that the monetary policy stance to remain focused on withdrawal of accommodation and it added that the economic activity in India remains stable.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said “GDP growth for FY23 projected at 7%. Inflation projection for FY23 retained at 6.7%.”
Mr. Das said “World in midst of third major shock from aggressive monetary tightening by central banks.”
Mr. Das said “There is nervousness in financial market, global economy eye of new storm.”
The RBI Governor also added, “eecent correction in global crude oil prices if sustained may provide relief to inflation.”
Mr. Das said “Rupee has depreciated in a very orderly manner.” He further added that “RBI does not have any fixed exchange rate in mind.”
The RBI Governor said “Bank credit has grown at accelerated pace of 16.2%.” (Agencies)

Dry weather likely to continue in Jammu and Kashmir: MeT

JAMMU, Sep 30: The Meteorological (MeT) department on Friday forecast dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
“Dry weather is likely to continue in J&K during the next 24 hours”, an official of the MeT department said, adding that the weather was similar on Thursday also.
Meanwhile, Srinagar registered 11.4 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 6.6 degrees and Gulmarg 6.4 degrees as the minimum temperature this morning.
Drass in Ladakh region reported 2.9 degrees, Kargil 6.6 and Leh 2 degrees, while Jammu had recorded a minimum of 22.8 degrees, Katra 20.2, Batote 12.4, Banihal 10.4 and Bhaderwah 10.9. (Agencies)

AGH terrorist arrested in Srinagar: Police

SRINAGAR, Sept 29: A terrorist of Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) outfit was on Thursday arrested with arms and ammunition from Palpora area here, police said.
“One categorised terrorist of AGH terror outfit namely Junaid Ahmad Parray of Nawakadal arrested by a joint team of Srinagar Police and 24 RR from Palpora, Srinagar,” Srinagar Police said in a tweet.
The police said a pistol, a magazine and live rounds were recovered from his possession.
“Case under sections of the UAPA registered in Safakadal PS,” the police said. (Agencies)

Govt defers proposal to make 6 airbags mandatory in cars by one year to Oct 1, 2023: Gadkari

NEW DELHI, Sept 29: The Government has deferred the implementation of the proposal to make six airbags mandatory in passenger cars by one year to October 1, 2023, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday.
The government had earlier planned to make six airbags mandatory in eight-seater vehicles for enhanced safety of occupants from October 1, 2022.
“Considering the global supply chain constraints being faced by the auto industry and its impact on the macroeconomic scenario, it has been decided to implement the proposal mandating a minimum of 6 Airbags in Passenger Cars (M-1 Category) w.e.f 01st October 2023,” Gadkari said in a tweet.
The minister further asserted that the safety of all passengers travelling in motor vehicles irrespective of their cost and variants is the foremost priority. (Agencies)
