betrayal of Budgam

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday accused the ruling National Conference (NC) of the betrayal of Budgam, alleging that the constituency has suffered neglect and underdevelopment despite electing a Chief Minister from the area.

Addressing a gathering of party workers ahead of the Budgam by-election, Mufti said the people of the district had been voting for the NC for over five decades but had received little in return. She urged voters to bring change and end what she described as a prolonged betrayal of Budgam.

“If you want real progress, the flow of the river must change,” she said. “You created a Chief Minister and several ministers, yet look at the condition of Budgam today. Basic issues like water, electricity, and employment remain unaddressed.”

Mufti accused the Chief Minister of abandoning the constituency after winning from two seats and retaining the one with higher votes. She said this act symbolised the continuing betrayal of Budgam and the disregard for the people who placed their faith in him.https://himalayanexpress.in/

She listed several unfulfilled promises, including free electricity, drinking water, cooking gas, jobs, and rationalised reservations. “They made countless promises, but you know which ones were actually fulfilled,” she said sarcastically, adding that residents continue to struggle with essential services.

Taking aim at the NC over its role in the recent Rajya Sabha elections, Mufti alleged that the party’s decisions benefited the BJP. “We voted in the interest of the people and sought their support on public bills. But they gave away one Rajya Sabha seat to the BJP. That too reflects the betrayal of Budgam,” she claimed.https://himalayanexpress.in/

Calling on voters not to repeat old mistakes, Mufti appealed for support for PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, saying her party stood for dignity, justice, and accountability. She said the PDP aimed to restore trust in leadership and end the decades-long betrayal of Budgam through transparent and people-centric governance.
