SRINAGAR, June 20: The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has predicted the possibility of light rain, thunder, and gusty winds across many areas of the Kashmir Valley and some parts of the Jammu region until June 21. Moving forward, from June 22 to June 23, isolated places may experience light rain and thunderstorms, followed by generally dry weather expected from June 24 to June 27, although isolated instances of light rain and thunder cannot be entirely ruled out during this period.
Additionally, there is a likelihood of a heat wave over the plains of Jammu starting from June 22 onwards.
In terms of temperature variations recorded recently, Srinagar saw a low of 13.7°C compared to 18.0°C the previous night, which is 2.1°C below the normal for this time of year in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Qazigund registered a minimum temperature of 13.6°C, slightly below the normal, while Pahalgam recorded 10.7°C, Kokernag 13.7°C, and Kupwara 11.6°C, each showing variations below their respective normal temperatures.
Meanwhile, Gulmarg, known for its skiing, recorded a minimum of 5.0°C, significantly lower than the previous night’s 11.2°C, marking a deviation of 5.1°C below the usual for this time of year.
In Jammu, the temperature dropped to 23.5°C from 28.0°C the previous night, slightly below the seasonal norm for the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Other areas like Banihal recorded 15.3°C, Batote 15.0°C, and Bhaderwah 14.9°C, each showing slight variations from their typical temperatures.
These weather forecasts and temperature observations indicate fluctuating conditions across the region, prompting residents and visitors to remain informed and prepared for possible weather changes in the coming days.
