HOSHIARPUR, May 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for a full majority government at the Centre, invoking Guru Ravidas as an inspiration for his administration’s focus on the welfare of the poor. Speaking at a rally on the final day of campaigning for the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections, Modi highlighted the unprecedented development the country has witnessed over the past decade.
“Welfare of the poor is my government’s top priority, and a significant inspiration for this is Guru Ravidas,” Modi stated. He expressed his desire to rename Adampur airport, which serves Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur, in honor of Guru Ravidas.
In what he noted as his last public meeting of this election, Modi remarked on the significance of Hoshiarpur, referred to as ‘Chotti Kashi’ and Guru Ravidas’ ‘tapobhoomi.’ He drew a connection to Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, where Guru Ravidas was born. “Ending the poll campaign in this sacred land of Hoshiarpur is a matter of pride for me,” he said.
Modi targeted the Congress and the INDIA bloc, accusing them of seeking proof of surgical strikes, neglecting the army, and depleting the government exchequer. “The Congress has done a double Ph.D in corruption,” he charged. He also criticized the AAP government in Punjab, accusing it of destroying industry and farming.
The Prime Minister concluded by saying that every Indian is aligned with the dream of a developed Bharat and that the country is supporting his vision. Polling for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab will take place on June 1, the final phase of the election.
