New Delhi, April 30th: Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, a specialist in communication and electronic warfare, officially assumed the role of the 26th Chief of the Navy on Tuesday, succeeding R Hari Kumar upon his retirement from service.
A graduate of Sainik School Rewa, Admiral Tripathi previously served as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff before taking the helm of the Navy. Born on May 15, 1964, he was commissioned into the executive branch of the Indian Navy on July 1, 1985, and boasts nearly 39 years of distinguished service.
His extensive career includes commanding Indian Naval Ships Vinash, Kirch, and Trishul, along with holding various operational and staff positions such as Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet and Commandant of the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
Admiral Tripathi, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, has undergone training at institutions including the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and the Naval Command College in the United States. He is honored with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Nau Sena Medal (NM).
Admiral Hari Kumar retired after a distinguished career spanning four decades, marking the transition to Admiral Tripathi’s leadership.
