Jammu: Police Nab Two Drug Peddlers with Heroin Valued in Lakhs

Jammu : In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Jammu Police apprehended two individuals with a substantial quantity of heroin valued in lakhs from the Bus Stand area. The operation, conducted under Operation “Sanjeevani,” aimed at combating drug-related crimes and substance abuse in the region.

According to a police spokesperson, a team led by Inspector Vikas Dogra, Station House Officer of Police Station Bus Stand, conducted a naka check near Town Hall Road on Wednesday night. During the operation, they arrested two suspected drug peddlers, identified as Majid Chowdhary and Mohd Waqar, both hailing from Rajouri district.

Upon searching the suspects, the police recovered 169 grams of heroin from their possession. A case has been registered under relevant sections, and investigations have commenced to trace the origin of the drug supply chain.

The spokesperson highlighted the diligent efforts of Jammu Police to dismantle drug networks operating in the region. Thorough interrogation of the accused is underway to unravel crucial information about the drug trade.

Emphasizing the importance of community involvement, the spokesperson urged the public, especially the youth, to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing any information about drug peddlers or addicts. Assurances were given that the identities of informants would be kept confidential.

Jammu Police remains committed to raising awareness about the perils of drug abuse and is dedicated to eradicating this menace from the community.
