New Delhi, Jan 27 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday accused the BJP of enticing seven of its MLAs in Delhi with offers of Rs 25 crore each to defect from the party, further claiming a plot to overthrow the Kejriwal-led government. The Delhi BJP dismissed these allegations, challenging AAP to reveal the names of the MLAs and individuals supposedly involved in the offer.
AAP insisted that they possess recordings of conversations with one of their MLAs and promised to reveal them later. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to ‘X’ to disclose that seven of his party MLAs had been contacted and cautioned of impending arrests. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva countered the accusations, branding Kejriwal as politically desperate and asserting that the claims demonstrated his mental bankruptcy.
According to Kejriwal, the callers asserted contact with 21 AAP MLAs, offering them Rs 25 crore and a BJP ticket each for upcoming elections after the proposed toppling of the Delhi government. Kejriwal stated that all seven MLAs rejected the offer. He further alleged attempts to orchestrate his arrest in connection with an alleged liquor scam to destabilize the AAP government.
Delhi minister Atishi, in a press conference, accused the BJP of launching “Operation Lotus 2.0” in Delhi, claiming a similar failed attempt last year. She asserted that such conspiracies were a recurring tactic by the BJP in various states. Atishi contended that evidence in the form of recorded calls would be made public in due course.
Denying the allegations, Delhi BJP secretary Harish Khurana challenged Atishi to disclose the names of the contacted MLAs and those involved in making the offers. He accused AAP of attempting to divert attention from Kejriwal’s evasion of ED summons related to the liquor scam.
