BDA endeavours to make famous snow filled Guldanda meadow plastic free, installed dustbins

Bhaderwah:- Continuing with it’s endeavour to make high altitude meadows free from bio non degradable material after PM’s G20 slogan ‘One Earth, One Nation, One Future’, Bhadarwah Development Authority(BDA) along with Police and Rural Development Department (RDD) carried out a massive cleanliness drive at snow filled Guldanda meadow of Bhaderwah, which is receiving huge flow of tourists from across country.

Bhadarwah Development Authority took the initiative to preserve nature by cleaning bio non degradable waste from the famous Guldanda meadow, which is being left dirty by the visitors & vendors.

The campaign started with a awareness lecture by CEO BDA Bal Krishan at high altitude meadow in which beside officials of BDA, Police and RDD participated to motivate the tourists and visitors not to throw polythene, wrappers and other bio non degradable substances for the sake of environment and to save the natural beauty of high altitude tourist destination. ASP Bhaderwah Vinod Sharma, BDO Bhaderwah Anoop Sharma, Officials of BDA, Police and RDD joined by tourists started cleanliness drive by collecting all the wrappers, plastic bottles and other substances from nearly 1 KM area of the Snow filled meadow and the road. Dustbins were also installed by BDA at the Guldanda meadow to make it plastic free tourist destination. Bal Krishan CEO BDA said that due to heavy rush of tourists, the environmental condition of famous high altitude meadow Guldanda in Bhadarwah were in bad state as there was wrappers and other bio non degradable garbage everywhere, we took the matter very seriously and beside educating visitors and vendors about cleanliness, we started it’s cleanliness along with RDD and Police as our PM has also given slogan ‘One Earth, One Nation, One Future’ during presidency of G20 to save environment.

“We successfully managed to almost clear the entire meadow all the bio non degradable substances. He appealed that “visitors should use dustbins installed at different places,” CEO added.

“Tourists not only happily participated in cleanliness drive but also requested the visitors present here, not to throw plastic and wrappers in the meadow. They also motivate others to use dustbins,” CEO informed.

It is notable to mention here that according to the figures issued by BDA more than 1.5 lakh tourists visited Bhaderwah since last one week as Vibrant Bhaderwah Festival boost the winter tourism in Bhaderwah in a big way.
