Varanasi : On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly constructed Swarved Mahamandir in Umaraha, Varanasi, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The seven-storey Mahamandir, built at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore, is touted as the world’s largest meditation center, capable of accommodating 20 thousand people simultaneously.
Addressing the members of ‘Swarved Sampradaya’ during the inauguration ceremony, Modi remarked, “Under the guidance of saints, the people of Kashi have set new records in terms of development and unique construction. Today, Swarved Mahamandir is an example of this…” The prime minister expressed his awe at the magnificence of the Mahamandir complex during a tour, stating, “I was mesmerized when I took a tour of the Swarved Mahamandir…The divine teachings of Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Gita, and Mahabharata have been depicted through pictures on the walls of Swarved Mahamandir…”
Emphasizing India’s rapid development, Modi said, “It is a privilege for me to participate in the inauguration of Swarved Mahamandir in Kashi.”
During his two-day visit to Varanasi, PM Modi inaugurated the Kashi Tamil Sangamam cultural festival and flagged off the Banaras-Kanyakumari, Kashi-Sangamam weekly express train. He also launched multi-language and Braille translations of Thirukkural, Manimekalai, and other classic Tamil literature.
Earlier interactions included engaging with beneficiaries of the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra,’ where Modi expressed his vision for India to become a developed country by 2047 if the entire nation collectively resolves to achieve this goal.
