Jammu, Nov 30 : Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain announced that statements, whether falling under freedom of expression or linked to a conspiracy to escalate violence, will be thoroughly investigated. Swain emphasized that both responsible and irresponsible statements will be scrutinized, with communication traced and discussions and meetings investigated for any “backdoor manipulation.”
Addressing reporters, Swain clarified that whether statements are part of freedom of expression or a conspiracy to fuel violence, they will be subject to investigation. He highlighted the potential correlation between statements and violence, referring to established connections in some National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases, where the court accepted them as evidence.

He made a distinction between innocent remarks and those designed to further violence, emphasizing the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
In response to the protests at NIT-Srinagar, Swain assured action against those responsible for any deliberate actions aimed at spreading falsehoods leading to violence. He appealed to the public to maintain calm and not be misled by individuals attempting to foment trouble. Swain warned against attempts to trigger trouble and assured that communal harmony would be preserved in Kashmir.
He urged vigilance from the public and emphasized that no protests on the roads would be allowed. Swain concluded by stating that the police would ensure respect for all religions and protect the dignity of the majority community in the Valley.
