Srinagar, Nov 28: The MET office has predicted inclement weather for Jammu and Kashmir, with expectations of light to moderate rain or snow on November 29-30. The forecast indicates generally cloudy conditions with precipitation at fairly widespread places in the region during this period.
As the winter chill intensifies, the Valley is already experiencing colder temperatures, with the maximum day temperature settling below 15 degrees. On Monday, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature dropped to 3.9 degrees in the morning. In Gulmarg and Pahalgam, the minimum temperature reached minus 0.2 and 1.2 degrees, respectively.
Other regions in Jammu and Kashmir reported varying temperatures, with Jammu recording 11.1 degrees, Banihal 8.6, Batote 7.9, Katra 11, and Bhaderwah 5.6. In the Ladakh region, Leh registered minus 1.1 degrees, and Kargil recorded 0.9 degrees as the minimum temperature.
The changing weather conditions mark a shift in the season, with residents preparing for the onset of winter. The daylight hours are also gradually shortening, as the Sun rises at 7.16 a.m. in Srinagar and 7.12 a.m. in Jammu, according to MET officials.
