New Delhi, September 5 : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned the BJP’s response to the controversy surrounding G20 dinner invitations, which appeared to be sent on behalf of the ‘President of Bharat’ rather than India. Kejriwal wondered if the BJP would consider renaming the country to “Bharat” if the opposition alliance INDIA decided to rebrand itself as “Bharat.”
The Congress raised concerns on Tuesday regarding an invitation from the Narendra Modi government for a G20 dinner that referred to the President as the “President of Bharat” instead of India.
Kejriwal expressed his views during a press conference, saying, “There is no official information about it, but I have heard rumors. Why is this happening? Some parties have come together to form the INDIA bloc. If the INDIA alliance changes its name to Bharat, will they rename Bharat? This is treason.”
He further pointed out that the BJP appeared to be perturbed by the emergence of the opposition alliance. When the alliance was first announced, the BJP attempted to divert public attention from it with its ‘One nation, One election’ proposal.
Addressing another controversy involving DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks about Sanatan Dharma, Kejriwal emphasized the importance of respecting all religions.
“I am from Sanatan Dharma. Many of you also belong to Sanatan Dharma. We should respect each other’s religion and not speak ill of it,” he stated.
Udhayanidhi Stalin had likened Sanatan Dharma to diseases like coronavirus, malaria, and dengue on September 2 and called for their eradication. During his address in Tamil at a meeting of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association in Chennai, he referred to Sanatan Dharma as ‘Sanatanam.’
