Mumbai, Aug 5 : The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) announced that it will host the third meeting of the opposition bloc INDIA in Mumbai from August 31 to September 1, as per Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut’s statement on Saturday.
The gathering will witness the participation of visiting opposition leaders, including five chief ministers, who will be hosted by Thackeray for dinner on August 31. The two-day deliberations will take place at Grand Hyatt in the suburbs, commencing on the evening of August 31 and continuing from 10 am on September 1. A press conference will follow the meeting, as informed by Raut.
Leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition will liaise with the state government to address logistics and security arrangements for the visiting dignitaries, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Raut stated.
“The MVA leaders who met today resolved to ensure the INDIA meeting is a success on the lines of the ones in Patna and Bengaluru. We have assigned responsibilities to each of the leaders for preparations of the two-day meeting,” Raut added.
The MVA meeting saw the presence of prominent leaders, including NCP founder Sharad Pawar, his party’s state unit chief Jayant Patil, and national working president Supriya Sule. From Shiv Sena (UBT), Uddhav Thackeray, Subhash Desai, and Sanjay Raut were in attendance. Congress was represented by former chief ministers Prithviraj Chavan and Ashok Chavan, Congress Legislature Party chief Balasaheb Thorat, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar, and Congress state unit chief Nana Patole.
The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) is an opposition alliance of 26 parties formed recently to take on the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
