Partial Opening of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir Scheduled for January 2024 for Public Visits

New Delhi, July 10 : Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir construction has recently witnessed accelerated progress, with additional workers being deployed by the trust management. The current workforce of 550 workers will be bolstered by an additional 1,050 workers, bringing the total number of workers to 1,600. Previously, work was carried out in shifts for 18 hours a day, but now the construction is taking place round the clock, non-stop.

The focus of the current phase is the completion of flooring and electrical work on the ground floor (garbha griha), where the idol of Lord Ram will be installed. A grand consecration ceremony is scheduled for January 2024. The ground and first floors of the temple are expected to be completed by early next year, potentially in January 2024.

The immediate priority is to prepare the ground floor by December for the consecration ceremony. Work on the first floor began about 10 days ago, and the main structures and pillars are set to be completed by January. Partial access to the temple will be granted to visitors in January, while entry to the first floor will not be possible until March 2024.

The construction of the outer walls of the complex is estimated to take approximately one-and-a-half years to complete the entire building. While there may be occasional interruptions caused by rain or adverse weather conditions, indoor work has been progressing uninterrupted.

Carving work is not carried out after sunset, while other construction activities continue throughout the day. The resolution of the Ram Mandir issue came with the Supreme Court’s judgment, which settled the long-standing dispute between Hindus and Muslims regarding the site. The controversy arose from the belief of Hindus that the site was the birthplace of Lord Ram, while a mosque, Babri Masjid, was previously constructed there, leading to the demolition of the temple.
