In an effort to provide a positive platform for women youth and channelize their energy in a constructive direction, a T-20 Women’s Cricket Tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) was inaugurated today by Senior Superintendent of Police Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) at Sports Stadium, Doda.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by several senior officers, including Additional SP Headquarters Doda Shri Mohammad Aslam, DySP Headquarters Doda Shri Ajay Anand, DySP DAR Doda Shri Adil Rashu, and other officers/officials of the Police Department. A large gathering of spectators, prominent members of civil society, and representatives from the media fraternity were also present on the occasion.
A total of six women’s teams are participating in the tournament, which will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis. The opening match was played between GNV Arnora Doda and Green Champs Doda, in which Green Champs Doda emerged victorious.
While addressing the gathering, SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) welcomed all the guests and participants and emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir Police has always been at the forefront of promoting youth engagement and constructive activities, particularly among women. He stated that such initiatives provide young women with an opportunity to display their sporting talent, build confidence, and contribute positively to society.
SSP Doda further interacted with the participants and encouraged them to actively take part in sports and motivate others to do the same. He highlighted that one of the key objectives of organising such tournaments is to identify and nurture hidden sporting talent among the youth, while simultaneously keeping them away from drug abuse and other social evils.
The event marked a vibrant beginning to the tournament, showcasing District Police Doda’s commitment to fostering community engagement, promoting sports culture, and empowering young women through positive and inclusive initiatives.
