JAMMU, July 10: A search operation has been restarted on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district following firing exchanges between security forces and terrorists.
Officials reported that the search operation, which had been halted due to darkness and heavy rain in the Goli-Gadi forests of Doda district on Tuesday, resumed at first light on Wednesday.
The firing exchanges lasted for over two hours on Tuesday between terrorists and security forces in the area, following which the terrorists escaped into the densely forested Goli-Gadi area.
The officials added that the search operation has resumed, with security forces now actively tracking the terrorists in the forested region.
A massive Cordon & Search Operation (CASO), assisted by elite Para commandos of the Army, was initiated on Tuesday to locate the terrorists.
Drone surveillance, sniffer dogs, sharpshooters, and experts in mountain warfare are part of the extensive CASO currently underway in the area.
Tuesday’s encounter in Doda follows the recent ambush of an Army patrolling party in Kathua. This attack, the fifth in Jammu within a month, resulted in the deaths of five soldiers.
