Sahir Hussain of News18 elected as President, Kehar Singh of JK Media as Vice President
Bhaderwah, June 30: Keeping view the prevailing situations in the area, the scribes in Bhaderwah valley on Sunday framed an association with the name of ‘Working Journalists Association of Bhaderwah’ (WJAB) for the welfare of scribes associated with different news agencies including print/electronic and portals of the Nation.
This decision was taken in an emergent meeting called under the Chairmanship of senior journalist Mansoor Qadir.
On the occasion Sajid Tufail Lone (KPS) has been elected as Chairman, Sahir Hussain (News18) as President, Kehar Singh(JK Media) as Senior vice President, Abrar Butt (Kashmir Crown) as Vice President, Rafayat Ganai (JK Update) as Gen Secretary, Indresh Chouhan(TLR) as Secretary, Majid Ansari (Daily News India) as Cashier, Mansoor Qadir (ITN/CNS) as Advisor, Advocate Aleem Wani as Legal Advisor of the Journalists Association of Bhaderwah Valley.

Earlier, a memorandum approved at the time of the formation of the Working Journalists Association of Bhaderwah stated that the role played by the media in highlighting problems being faced by media fraternity in the Chenab region particularly in Bhadarwah valley and its adjoining areas had taken a crucial turn due to gap between administration and journalists.
It added that an independent, stable and functional journalist’s body had become an indispensable element of society as well as becoming an essential element in the provision of basic human rights of journalists in the region.
After elected as President of WJAB, Sahir Hussain said , that the Association would toil for the healthy development of the journalists (belonging to any stream of journalism including photo/video journalism and freelancing) especially the young ones so as to provide them an ample space and scaffold to explore and hone up their skills as better journalists and consequently help towards maintaining the dignity of the fourth (4th) pillar of democracy.
WJAB gates are open for all scribes of the Chenab for membership, president informed at the end of the meeting.
