Nitish Kumar Leads JDU National Executive Meet, Discusses 2024 Poll Results and Bihar’s Development Agenda

Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar chaired the party’s National Executive meeting in Delhi on Saturday. This is the first meeting of the JD(U) National Executive following the Lok Sabha elections. All party MPs, including Union Minister Lalan Singh, along with senior leaders from Bihar, are in attendance.

Sources indicate that the meeting has been convened to discuss the recent Lok Sabha election results. Additionally, the agenda includes the demand for special status for Bihar and the upcoming state Assembly elections scheduled for next year.

There is speculation in media reports that Nitish Kumar may step down as JD(U) President, potentially passing the leadership to senior party leader Sanjay Jha. Nitish Kumar had assumed the presidency of JD(U) in December last year, shortly before announcing a split from the Opposition’s INDIA bloc and aligning with the NDA.

The JD(U) National Executive Meeting takes place two days after party MPs met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. Following the meeting, Modi stated, “Had a great meeting with @Jduonline MPs. Our parties have a long history of working together and fighting poor governance, corruption, and criminalisation in Bihar. The leadership of Shri @NitishKumar Ji has taken Bihar on the path of development. We will keep working together for good governance.”
