Srinagar : As the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra commences in Jammu and Kashmir, state-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has unveiled a special SIM card initiative to support pilgrims on their spiritual journey to the sacred Amarnath Cave.
BSNL is offering these exclusive “Yatra SIM Cards” free of cost to registered pilgrims, which can be obtained from designated spots along the pilgrimage route, all BSNL Customer Care Centres, Yatri Niwas at Bakshi Nagar Jammu, and base camps including Nunwan and Baltal.
The Yatra SIM card comes with a 10-day validity period and can be activated within 15 minutes. While the SIM itself is free, pilgrims are required to recharge it with a Rs. 196 First Recharge Coupon (FRC). To obtain the SIM, pilgrims must present their Yatra registration slip and Aadhaar card.
In preparation for the influx of pilgrims, BSNL has significantly enhanced its network infrastructure by adding numerous new 4G BTS sites. This upgrade aims to ensure smooth and dedicated service throughout the Yatra-2024 period, providing seamless connectivity along the pilgrimage route covering both the Pahalgam and Baltal axes leading to the Holy Cave.
The special SIM card offers a range of benefits to the devotees, including unlimited voice calls, 1.5 GB of free mobile data, and 20,000 seconds of free talk time, all within the 10-day validity period.
BSNL’s initiative is aimed at enabling pilgrims to stay connected with their loved ones while navigating the challenging Himalayan terrain, adding an extra layer of safety and comfort to their spiritual journey.
