People Seek Accountable Opposition, I Aim to Foster Unity: PM Modi Ahead of Session

New Delhi, Jun 24 :  Ahead of the commencement of the 18th Lok Sabha’s first session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Monday that his government’s focus in its third term would be on inclusivity and consensus-building. He took a critical stance on the Congress, referring to the Emergency as a “dark chapter” in India’s democratic history, highlighting the suspension of constitutional rights and mass incarcerations under Indira Gandhi’s regime.

Addressing the upcoming session, Modi underscored the public’s expectation for meaningful debate and productivity over disruptive theatrics. He urged for a responsible opposition, noting past disappointments, and expressed hope for constructive parliamentary conduct this time around.

Reflecting on the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s recent electoral victory, Modi hailed it as a significant mandate and pledged triple the effort and results in this term. He emphasized the increased responsibilities and aspirations of the electorate, pledging his government’s commitment to delivering on these expectations.

The prime minister also highlighted the symbolic importance of the oath-taking ceremony in the new Parliament building, marking a proud moment for the country. Looking ahead, he outlined ambitious goals to transform India into a “Shreshtha Bharat” (Best India) and “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047, marking significant milestones for national progress.

Overall, Modi’s statements set the tone for a session expected to address crucial legislative matters and underscored his government’s vision for a proactive and consensus-driven approach in governance.
