MeT Forecasts Dry Weather in J&K Starting Tomorrow, Rain Expected from June 29

SRINAGAR, June 22: The meteorological department has forecast generally dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir from June 23 to 28, with the possibility of brief spells of rain and thundershowers at a few locations. However, from June 29 to 30, a fresh spell of rain and thundershowers is expected at many places in J&K, according to a meteorological department official.

In the past 24 hours until 8:30 a.m., various regions received rainfall: Srinagar recorded 1.44mm, Qazigund 1.8mm, Pahalgam 5.6mm, Kupwara 2.1mm, Kokernag 6.8mm, Gulmarg 6.6mm, Jammu 0.0mm, Banihal 0.8mm, Batote 0.3mm, and Bhaderwah 2.9mm.

Regarding temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of 14.5°C, down from 15.4°C the previous night, 1.3°C below normal for this time of year. Qazigund saw a minimum of 13.2°C, compared to 14.0°C the previous night, 1.2°C below normal. Pahalgam recorded a low of 10.6°C, slightly above the previous night’s 10.4°C, and 1.0°C above normal for the resort in south Kashmir.

In Kokernag, the minimum temperature was 12.6°C, down from 15.1°C the previous night, 1.6°C below normal. Kupwara town recorded a low of 13.7°C, up from 12.2°C the previous night, but still 0.7°C below normal. Gulmarg experienced a minimum temperature of 5.6°C, significantly down from 8.0°C the previous night, and 4.5°C below normal for the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu recorded a low of 24.9°C, 1.4°C below normal for the winter capital of J&K. Banihal recorded a low of 17.0°C, Batote 16.6°C, and Bhaderwah 15.2°C.
