SRINAGAR, June 21: Jammu and Kashmir experienced heavy rainfall as the Meteorological Department forecast more precipitation over the next 24 hours.
A Meteorological Department official stated that generally cloudy weather with intermittent rain and thundershowers is expected across many parts of Jammu and Kashmir on June 21. From June 22-23, there is a possibility of light rain and thunderstorms at isolated places. From June 24-28, the weather is expected to be generally dry, though light rain and thunderstorms at isolated places cannot be ruled out. Additionally, a heatwave is predicted over the plains of Jammu starting June 22.
In the last 24 hours until 8:30 a.m., various regions received notable rainfall: Srinagar recorded 5.7mm, Qazigund 4.2mm, Pahalgam 4.4mm, Kupwara 4.0mm, Kokernag 1.4mm, Gulmarg 1.4mm, Jammu 0.3mm, Banihal 5.0mm, Batote 6.8mm, and Bhaderwah 0.2mm.
Regarding temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of 15.4°C, slightly below the normal 0.4°C for this time of year. Qazigund recorded a minimum of 14.0°C, also 0.4°C below normal. Pahalgam saw a low of 10.4°C, slightly above the normal 0.8°C. Kokernag recorded a minimum of 15.1°C, 0.9°C above normal. Kupwara recorded a low of 12.2°C, 2.2°C below normal. Gulmarg recorded a minimum of 8.0°C, 1.6°C below normal.
In Jammu, the low was 24.8°C, 1.5°C below normal. Other recorded temperatures included Banihal at 17.0°C, Batote at 15.4°C, and Bhaderwah at 17.2°C.
