New Delhi, June 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 84 major developmental projects worth more than Rs 1500 crore in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. According to a PMO release, these projects include enhancements in road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and higher education infrastructure.
Among the significant projects, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section, the development of Industrial Estates, and the construction of six Government Degree Colleges. He will also launch the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project, valued at Rs 1,800 crore. This project will be implemented across 90 blocks in 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, reaching 300,000 households and benefiting 1.5 million people.
During his visit, PM Modi will participate in the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. This event aims to showcase the region’s progress and inspire young achievers. The Prime Minister will inspect stalls and interact with young achievers from Jammu and Kashmir.
Additionally, PM Modi will distribute appointment letters to over 2,000 newly appointed government employees. The inauguration and foundation stone laying of these projects are expected to empower youth and enhance infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, according to the release.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, a multi-tier security arrangement has been put in place in the Union Territory. “As per security protocols, high-alert security arrangements have been made,” stated IGP Kashmir Zone Vidhi Kumar Birdi. Srinagar police have declared the city a ‘Temporary Red Zone’ for drone and quadcopter operations, warning that unauthorized drone operations will be penalized under the provisions of Drone Rules, 2021.
