PM Narendra Modi to Attend G7 Summit in Italy

New Delhi, June 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on his first foreign trip after assuming office for the third consecutive term. He will travel to Italy to participate in the G7 Summit, where he has been invited along with leaders from 11 other non-member countries.

The G7 Summit comprises Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, the UK, and the US.

According to Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, PM Modi will engage in a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni during his visit. Although Kwatra did not confirm additional meetings, speculation is rife about a possible encounter with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and a meeting with US President Joe Biden.

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan expressed Biden’s anticipation of meeting PM Modi in Italy, indicating the likelihood of their encounter during the summit.

Sullivan highlighted the fluid nature of the schedule, indicating the potential for various high-level engagements during the event.

Moreover, Sullivan revealed that Biden had already extended his congratulations to PM Modi on his election victory and subsequent swearing-in as the Prime Minister during their recent conversation in Paris.
