Srinagar, June 12: In a significant development, a court in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir has declared eight militant handlers based in Pakistan as proclaimed offenders, marking a crucial step in the pursuit of justice.
The police confirmed that these individuals have been absconding for years, prompting authorities to take legal action. Notices were affixed to their residences by law enforcement officers, signifying the seriousness of the situation.
The Court of Sub Judge Uri, responding to an application filed by Baramulla Police, declared the following individuals as proclaimed offenders: Mohammad Azad, Naseer Ahmad (both residents of Kundi Barjala), Kareem Din (Jabla Uri), Mohammad Hafeez Mir (Bada Gowahalan), Meer Ahmad (Singtung Gowhalan), Bashir Ahmed (Dardkoot), Showkat Ahmed Paswal (Gowhallan), and Ahad Bhat (Souhara).
According to police sources, multiple cases have been registered against these handlers, reflecting the gravity of their involvement in militant activities. Presently, they are believed to be operating with various terrorist outfits from the Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK)/Pakistan region.
Proclamation orders under Section 87 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) have been secured from the court against these individuals. These orders have been conspicuously displayed at their residences and public locations as per the court’s instructions.
The individuals have been given one month to appear before the Court of Law, failing which legal measures for the attachment of their properties under Section 88 of the CrPC will be initiated, emphasized the police.
