Ayodhya, June 12: In a bid to bolster security measures around the Ram temple and other religious sites in Ayodhya, the Central government has proposed the deployment of a unit of National Security Guard (NSG) commandos in the city soon.

Sources revealed that the Centre is in the process of identifying suitable land for setting up the NSG commando unit in Ayodhya. Once approved, the Black Cat commandos of NSG will be stationed in the city to ensure enhanced protection.

Currently, two security agencies of the Central government and four from the state government are deployed in the district. However, with the frequent visits of VVIPs to Ayodhya, particularly after the construction of the Ram temple, and the continuous influx of devotees, the need for heightened security measures has become imperative.

Moreover, Ayodhya has been targeted by terrorists in the past, underscoring the importance of tightening security in the region. Therefore, preparations are underway to establish an NSG commando unit in Ayodhya to further fortify security arrangements.

Sources also mentioned that the NSG team has reached out to the district administration to identify suitable land for the unit’s establishment. While a senior police officer confirmed the proposed deployment of the NSG unit, detailed information regarding the plan is yet to be disclosed.

The proposed deployment of NSG commandos in Ayodhya reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of religious sites and pilgrims in the region
