Jammu & Kashmir : Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has achieved a historic hat-trick by clinching the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat in Jammu for the third consecutive term. This remarkable feat is coupled with his retention of the prestigious Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) portfolio, marking a record in independent India’s history. Moreover, Dr. Singh will continue to oversee six other crucial ministries he previously held.
In his capacity as the Union Minister of State with Independent charge, Dr. Singh will maintain his position in the PMO for a third consecutive term, a feat unparalleled in Indian political history. Additionally, he will assume responsibility for six significant ministries, including Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Personnel (DoPT), Administrative Reforms, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space.
Furthermore, as the Minister In Charge of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Dr. Singh will oversee the esteemed Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, a vital institution training new Civil Servants, including IAS officers. He will also manage the administrative functions of key agencies affiliated with the DoPT, such as the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Dr. Jitendra Singh will retain his role as the National Chairman of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), one of India’s premier government institutions with chapters across all states.
During his previous terms as Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh spearheaded several landmark reforms across his ministries. These include the elimination of interviews in job selection processes, the introduction of initiatives like Rozgar Mela and Mission Karmyogi in the DoPT, and significant pension reforms benefiting various sections, including divorced daughters and differently-abled individuals.
Additionally, Dr. Singh’s tenure saw the advancement of notable projects such as Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1 in the Space sector, the facilitation of Public-Private-Partnerships (PPP) in Space, and the expansion of Nuclear plants across different regions of India, particularly in North India.
