In a nefarious act aimed at disturbing peace in the region, terrorists targeted a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district, resulting in the tragic loss of nine innocent lives and leaving over 30 others injured. The attack, condemned by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha as an attempt to plunge the Jammu region into turmoil, has sparked outrage and concern among residents.
Expressing solidarity with the victims and their families, LG Sinha assured that the perpetrators of this heinous act would be dealt with sternly. He emphasized that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister have been closely monitoring the situation and that a joint operation is underway to apprehend the attackers.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the injured in hospital, LG Sinha reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. He announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those killed in the incident and Rs 5 lakh for the injured, acknowledging that while compensation cannot replace lost lives, it is a gesture of support during these difficult times.
The priority, as affirmed by LG Sinha, remains the swift recovery and well-being of the injured. Efforts are underway to provide them with the necessary medical assistance and support.
The cowardly attack serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by terrorism in the region. However, the resilience and unity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir stand as a testament to their unwavering spirit in the face of adversity.
As investigations continue and security measures are reinforced, the government reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region. Together, as a community, Jammu and Kashmir will overcome this challenge and emerge stronger than ever before
