Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Commends UP Congress, Hails People’s Commitment to Constitution Amidst Electoral Upset

NEW DELHI, June 6: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra praised the people of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, applauding their resolute stance in upholding the Constitution and prioritizing public issues.

Following the BJP-led NDA’s setback in Uttar Pradesh, securing only 36 seats compared to the 43 won by the INDIA bloc, Gandhi expressed gratitude to her colleagues in the UP Congress. In a Hindi post on X, she acknowledged their relentless efforts despite facing adversities.

“My salute to all my colleagues of UP Congress. I saw you working hard in the sun and dust, you did not bow down, you did not stop, you showed courage to fight in the toughest of times,” Gandhi stated.

Despite facing challenges such as atrocities, false cases, and repeated house arrests, Gandhi admired the unwavering commitment of the UP Congress members. She praised the vigilant people of Uttar Pradesh for comprehending the essence of the country and sending a strong message nationwide about safeguarding the Constitution.

In her reflection on the electoral outcome, Gandhi emphasized the significance of prioritizing people’s issues in politics. “You have re-established an old ideal in today’s politics – that the issues of the people are paramount, the price of ignoring them is heavy,” she asserted.

Gandhi concluded by highlighting the essence of democracy, stating, “The election is of the people, the people fight it and the people win.”

In the politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party emerged as the single largest party with 37 seats, while the BJP secured 33 seats. Congress, an ally of the SP, clinched six seats, including Amethi and Rae Bareli.
