Police Register Criminal Case Against Non-Local Medical Student for Posting Sensitive Content

Srinagar, June 6: On Thursday, police in Srinagar initiated legal action against a non-local medical student enrolled at the Government Medical College (GMC) for allegedly posting religiously sensitive content on a caller app.

According to a police officer, the incident pertains to the posting of sensitive content against the religious sentiments of a particular community by the said student. The case was filed following a communication from the GMC Srinagar Administration.

The officer urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors or false information and cautioned against falling prey to propaganda from anti-social elements. Legal action will be taken against individuals involved in provocative acts or instigation.

Protests erupted at GMC Srinagar on Wednesday in response to the alleged post by the non-local medical student, which was deemed blasphemous by many students. Dozens of students and several junior doctors staged a protest on the GMC campus.

The student in question was suspended by the college administration pending an inquiry.
